speaking of how cool and hot the female characters would be in your alternate inquisition game would be, what do you think vivienne would be doing? would she start off with the inquisition until you convince her that theres no returning to the way it was, or does she seek you out in a similar way to canon?
so there’s a couple avenues. one is making her the head of the inquisition’s loyalist mages as u describe. however, i would absolutely no question want you to be able to pull her over to your side, as the worst vivienne choice i can imagine is to double down on the vanilla game’s weirdly spiteful villainisation, and if i took that route i would cut out the redemption/recruitment possibilities for the inquisition’s advisors (at the very least for cullen & josephine) as imo it would be treading too much of the same ground. possible, and potentially rewarding, but a pretty steep cost given the place those characters also hold in people’s hearts. worth thinking about!
but frankly i love having her around so much that i favour keeping vivienne as a companion throughout the game. in this variant, even more obviously than in dai, we meet a vivienne living her worst case scenario. she was a fierce loyalist when the rebellions began, but as the rebels fled into the shadows she became the most outspoken, powerful mage left in the inquisition’s full sight, and it was proved once and for all that you simply cannot do things correctly enough to be absolved of being a mage. they turned on her. perhaps when she argued that mages simply could not, based on any known arcane knowledge, be to blame for the rifts. her supporters in orlais withered away, bastien was in no position to do anything, and celene was as quick to wash her hands of her as she was to use her. she has fallen so far that you, the so-called herald with your makeshift band of fugitives & rebels, are simply the only power left who will take her. and if you can really close the rifts, if she is seen helping at your side, then people will know that at least in this, mages were the solution not the problem. now on the run herself, it’s the only chance she has left to seize agency, safeguard her people, and, if she’s very, very lucky, return to power in the new world you shape
despite being on a “rebel” team, this vivienne shouldn’t be defanged of her politics. she should still blame the rebels for it coming to this. even if our party are pretty universally enemies of the inquisition one way or another, it makes sense for some characters to see it as an aberration rather than typical of the chantry, and to wish for things to return to the way they were. however, i’d also like potential room for character growth. this is vivienne’s first time truly free of the circle & chantry since she was a child, and if she experiences possibility at your side, if she’s encouraged to act based on hope rather than fear and you don’t disappoint that hope, it should affect her worldview. but you can also opt to encourage the path she was already on! as herald, you will have choices between the goals of restoring “normality” or gambling on a better future. this is a binary that will probably characterise your dynamic with many of the companions, especially vivienne, in a system inspired by da2 friendship/rivalry
as a visual note, i’d love to see her using the typical apostate furs and feathers to recreate her courtly outfits, to emphasise her navigating her new & old positions in the world. inspired by this concept art:

#i got too distracted by storytelling to focus on how hot she would be but like. it’s vivienne. you already know.#villainquisition

Butler's Dream - Home Screen Interaction
"What sort of dream will Master have tonight? I hope its a wonderful dream that makes you reluctant to wake up."
"A dream that I want to have?"
Berrian:
"Well..." "Of course I'd like a dream spent surrounded with my favorite black tea." "B-but... I'd also like for Master to be there too" "A-apologies! It wasn't meant with any odd intentions." "I'm a butler... so I simply want to support my Master even in a dream."

Rono:
"Huh, what do I want to see?" "I'd want to sample a whole variety of amazing food from everywhere!" "Ah, but eating it alone would be kinda boring..." "If Master was eating with me... that'd be an even better dream!" "Ack, s-sorry. I didn't mean it in any weird way or anything." "I'm a butler... Even in a dream, I just want to help my Master out..."

Bastien:
"Hmmm... Let's see..." "A dream where I get to fill my stomach with meat dishes that Rono cooked..." "It would be nice... if Master was also with me..." "S-sorry, I might have said to much just then. Please forget about it..."

Haures:
"Hmm... This may be a little childish but..." "A dream which features a dog... would be very nice..." "A-and... I'd like it if Master was there" "I-I'm sorry...! I didn't mean for it to come off like that!" "As a butler... I simply want to be of aid my Master, even in a dream."

Fennesz:
"Hmm... A dream where I can read for the whole day is tempting but..." "I-if its permissible, I'd like Master to be there with me... Or something like that..." "I-I'm sorry! I just suddenly... something so brazen...!" "T-that wasn't said with any ulterior motives or anything..." "I'm a butler so... I'd like to assist my Master, even in a dream"

Boschi:
"Hmm... I usually don't dream at all but..." "If Master were to be in it, it'd might be a pretty fun dream"

Ammon:
"Hmm... Maybe a dream where I'm surrounded by a field of beautiful roses?" "And of course, if Master were to show up, I'd be plenty happy♪" "Lets take a stroll and smell the roses together♪" "I'll teach you a whole lot of things!"

Lucas:
"Hmm... Being able to sit down and read a medical publication paired with a delicious wine is a wonderful dream but..." "Ah yes, I'd like to have a dream where Master makes an appearance in. " "Drinking with Master and engaging in stimulating conversations together sounds like a wonderful time."

Nac:
"Yes... This is quite the question that you have posed..." "But if there is one thing that I can say..." "If I could see Master's own dreams... I'd be delighted" "I am, at my core, someone who does not posses many desires or wishes of my own but..." "Various things seem to be the exception when it concerns you..." "Oh my, it seems that I may have spoken a little too much just now." "Please disregard my ramblings just now, Master."

Lamli:
"Do you even need to ask? Of course I'd die to see a dream where I can have my lovely Master alllll to myself!" "Wandering around with Master~! Stargazing~!" "Fufufu~Just imagining it has got me smiling all wide and giddy!"

Miyaji:
"Hmm... Well it might be quite troublesome to say but..." "Speaking frankly, one where Master appears in, maybe?" "If that were to happen... what a wonderful dream that would be"

Flure:
"Hmm.... Let's see..." "A dream where I'm surrounded by lovely clothes would be wonderful!" "I'd love to dress you up in so many different outfits..."

Lato:
"Hmm. A parsley field where I can eat all the parsley I want would be nice." "There's Miyaji-sensei and Flure..." "Ah! That's right. Master is also invited." "Lets enjoy a parsley party together okay, Master?"

Hanamaru:
"I dunno... Huh, nothing really comes to mind." "Well, it might be a bit dark but... a dream featuring my hometown, maybe?" "I'd show you all the sights and sounds of the place that I grew up with..." "..." "Its something that I could never do in reality so..." "But if its a dream, there's a chance of it coming true..." "Oops, that got kinda dark for a sec. Sorry, Master."

Yuhan:
"Let's see... A dream where I'm in nestled within a beautiful grove of peach trees, perhaps. " "In my home village, there were quite a few peach trees planted around the area. I used to spend a lot of time among them when I was younger." "Just looking at the beautiful scenery can soothe even the most troubled hearts." "And, I'd like for Master to share this dream with me." "I will always yearn to spend time with the ones closest to my heart."

Teddy:
"Hmm.... A dream where I can see the sunrise, maybe?" "Seeing a sunrise in your dreams is quite the auspicious sign, it means that your luck will steadily rise!" "With that rising luck, good things are also more likely to happen!" "And I'd like it if Master could also be there as well." "I really enjoy the time I spend with Master. Even in a dream, if I can experience that, then that would be supper lucky!"

Bellen:
"... The same dream I have every night, I suppose." "... Just like now, I'm allowed to be with Master..." "And with Berrian and the others by my side..." "I'm much more happy living out this reality than I ever could be in a dream. Every day is like a miracle for me." "I can't begin think... of anything that I would even wish for."

Shiro:
"If your dreams turn sour, its a sign that your stress is building." "So it better to have good dreams." "A dream that I'd like to have?" "......... Nothing in particular." "......" "..." "What? Why are you looking at me with such incessant eyes?" "Hah..." "Frankly speaking, I'd like to dream of the past." "Those who I can not meet in reality, can be communed with in dreams." ".... hah. I've spoken of such dull topics." "Forget it."

Someone You Can Rely On

Episode 1
A few days after the Halloween recreation... I was once again enjoying a tea party with Lono and the others.
Lono: Arujisama. How do you like the taste of the sweets?
The sweets Lono prepared were purple and red in color… It looked strange, but… When I actually tried it, it was very sweet and delicious.
Aruji: It’s delicious
Lono: Is that so? That would be great.
Aruji: Is this all handmade by Lono?
Lono: Yes. By the way, the purple part is expressed by using grapes and purple sweet potatoes.
Aruji: That’s amazing
Berrien: Hehe… It is just like you said I was even more surprised by how delicious it was, which I couldn't imagine from the outside. I can’t believe you made such wonderful sweets. As expected of Lono-kun. The Lord is also satisfied… This is all thanks to Lono-kun’s hard work.
Aruji: That’s amazing, Lono.
Lono: Ishishi… Well, it’s not that big of a deal.
Bastien: No big deal, huh? Arujisama, Lono says this, but he was actually having a hard time.
Aruji: Is that so?
Bastien: Yeah,. It seems like he was having a hard time coming up with sweets that he was satisfied with. He went through a lot of trial and error, consulting other butlers about the appearance and taste… If I remember correctly, he was making it until late at night the day before Halloween.
Lono: Oi, Bastien! Don’t say unnecessary things in front of arujisama.
Bastien: Huh? I just told the truth… Did I do something wrong?
Lono: Was it wrong… You… If you say something like that, you’ll make arujisama pay attention to you. Geez…
Aruji: You worked hard for it.
Lono: Oh, yeah… I want my master to always eat delicious food. Even if it’s a difficult dish… As a chef, I can’t give up easily! Hehe, and …. If you can please arujisama, it’s worth all the effort!
Berrien: Hehe… It’s a good thing arujisama was pleased, Lono-kun.
- After a while-
After enjoying all the Halloween candy… Lono and the others were cleaning up the sets and tools they used for the recreation. Apparently, they don’t intend to clean everything up at once… But rather made a plan to clean up little by little.
Lono: Well then, Berrien-san. I’ve mostly finished tidying up the area assigned to me… Next, I’m going to help Haures and the others in the garden.
Berrien: Ah, Lono-kun. In that case, Bastien-kun and I will go, so it’s okay.
Lono: Eh? But… Berrien: Lately, Lono-kun has been working hard until late at night. Leave the rest to us… Please rest at ease.
Lono: No, no! I’m not tired at all so you don’t have to worry about me.
Berrien: But…
Lono: Hehe, it’s fine! Leave it to me. Well then, arujisama, I’ll be going. Please excuse me.
Aruji: [Yeah]
[Take care]
*footsteps going away*
Aruji: Lono, is doing his best.
Berrien: I hope he’s now overdoing it…
Bastien: Hmm… That guy has a habit of working hard until he collapses. I hope he doesn’t get sick this time either…
Berrien: I agree.
Aruji: (Will he be alright…Lono…)
I started to worry about Lono… I decided to head to the garden to check on him.
- A few minutes later -
In the garden, Lono was helping with the clean up.
Fennesz: Sorry, Lono. You must have been tired, but you’re helping us.
Lono: What are you saying? I didn’t really help out with decorations, food preparation, etc. Please let me help you with this.
Fennesz: Lono… Thank you…
*footsteps coming*
Haures: Lono, Fennesz. If you’re free, could you help me? That lumber looks dangerous unless several people move it.
Lono: I got it! I’ll be right away, so please wait a moment.
*footsteps going*
Aruji: (Everyone relies on Lono…)
I don’t want to get in their way… I decided to wait and see what happened.
- After a while -
After all the tidying up… I called out to Lono, who was resting in the shade of a tree.
Aruji: Lono, thank you for your hard work.
Lono: Ah, arujisama. Thank you for your hard work. The fact that you came out to the garden… Maybe you’re going for a walk?
Aruji: I came to check on Lono.
Lono: How I’m doing…?
Aruji: I thought you might be tired…
Lono: Ah, I see. Hehehe… I’m glad you were worried about me. But it’s okay. When I’m tired, I can rest properly like this.
Aruji: That would be fine, but…
Lono: Yeah. Thank you for your concern. But, for me… Rather than just resting… I feel more at ease when I’m cooking or doing something for someone else.
Aruji: Lono is amazing.
Lono: N-no, it’s not that big of a deal. When I was a child, I took care of my younger siblings… It just became a commonplace. Well, it’s like an old habit. Besides that… I honestly feel happy when someone relies on me
As Lono said… He seems happy when he’s helping everyone. He was working hard on making Halloween sweets… I’m sure it’s because of that side of him. I once again, thanked him for preparing such wonderful sweets
Aruji: Thank you for the delicious sweets, Lono.
Lono: I feel a bit embarrassed when someone thanks me again. The main reason I worked so hard to make Halloween sweets was because I wanted to make arujisama happy, but… Actually, from a long time ago… I also admired such unusual sweets.
Aruji: A long time ago…?
Lono: Yes. It all started with a picture book. That’s quite a long time ago, but… When I lived with my younger brothers and sisters… When I came home from my day job… My younger siblings were looking at a picture book they had found somewhere.
- ?? years ago -
Young Lono: I’m home.
Younger sister: Lono-nii-chan! Welcome back!
Older brother: Welcome home, Lono-nii!
Younger brother: Look at this, Lono-nii-chan!
Young Lono: What is that? A picture book…?
Younger brother: Yeah! I picked it up earlier when it fell! There are lots of pictures of delicious-looking dishes!
Younger sister: Let’s watch it together with Lono-nii-chan!
Young Lono: Heh~ That’s nice! This one looks interesting.
*flashback ends*
Lono: I was still a child at that time… I couldn’t read the letters very well, but… Just looking at the pictures in the picture book… Both me and my younger siblings had a great time. There were many drawings of sweets with strange shapes. They looked so delicious… My younger siblings and I were watching with shining eyes.

Episode 2
- ?? years ago -
Young Lono: Everything really looks delicious
Older brother: Yeah. Must be nice, sweets…
Younger brother: Lono-nii-chan! I want to eat this!
Young Lono: Eh…
Younger sister: Hey! Don’t say anything that will trouble Lono-nii-chan!
Younger brother: B-but… Sister, don’t you want to eat it…?
Younger sister: T-that…
Young Lono: Hmmm. Okay, leave it to me!
Younger sister: Huh… Lono-nii-chan…?
Young Lono: Of course, it’s not possible right now… I’ll definitely make it someday!
Younger brother: R-really?!
Young Lono: Yeah, that’s a promise. Someday, I will make you the most delicious sweets.
Younger brother: Yay! It’s a promise!
Younger sister: Thank you, Lono-nii-chan….
Young Lono: Hehe… be prepared for it. At that time, I’ll make so much you won’t be able to eat it all!
Younger brother: Yeah! I’ll be looking forward to the sweets Lono-nii makes!
*flashback ends*
.........
Lono: Actually, I wanted to make some sweets for my brothers right away, but… At that time, I… My hands were full just getting food for the day. But someday, for my younger siblings… At that moment, I decided that I would definitely make delicious sweets. That is… That’s why I was fascinated by unusual sweets. In the end… The opportunity never came.
Aruji: Is that so…
Lono: I’m sorry. I suddenly started saying something strange. But because of the experience I had back then… I realize how happy I am with my current situation. For me now… There are many things you can do for your loved ones and friends. And for worrying about me… There is someone right in front of me who smiles and tells me that the food I make is delicious… For me right now… That is the greatest salvation.
Aruji: Lono…
Lono: … I couldn’t make sweets for my younger siblings… Even if I regret it, I don’t regret it fully… I will continue to do this for the people I care about… I will make a lot of dishes and sweets…. I want to bring smiles to many people. That’s my purpose in life.
Aruji: That’s very Lono-like
Lono: I-I’m sorry. Suddenly, it looked like I was talking to myself…
Aruji: Thank you for letting me hear it.
Lono: Hehe. We ended up talking a lot about cooking, but… As long as the other person is happy… I want to help others in ways other than cooking. Helping people who seem to be having a hard time at work... Consulting with people who are worried…
Aruji: You want to be someone they can rely on
Lono: Ehe… I guess so… Well, to be honest… Honestly, I’m happiest when the Lord relies on me…
Aruji: Me?
Lono: Of course… After all, you are a special person to me.
Aruji: Lono…
Lono: Arujisama…. The Lord has always cherished us butlers, hasn’t he? …The lord is important to me as well. However, this is different from the feeling “important” towards one's friends…or rather, it’s a different feeling… Arujisama is the first person that I’ve met who I felt like this. That’s why… Could you rely on me more? If it’s for arujisama’s sake… I’ll do anything. Really. Seriously, I will do anything. “I want to bring smiles to many people” is what I said earlier, but… The person I want to smile the most is arujisama. That much will never change. You bring out the best in me. Please do not forget that.
Aruji: [Thank you, Lono.]
[Yeah]
Lono: So… Hehe… it’s kind of embarrassing to do something like this… Well then, In any case, now that I’ve had some rest… I should go and prepare dinner.
Lono said as he stood up. When I heard Lono’s words… “I want to be of some help to him because he cares for me kindly” That feeling was slowly rising.
Aruji: Can I help too?
Lono: eh… Arujisama?
Aruji: I also want to help Lono.
Lono: Hehe..of course! I would be happy if arujisama was with me Well then, arujisama. Shall we head to the kitchen? Tonight with me… Let’s make a lot of delicious dishes!
Aruji: Yeah!
And then, Lono and I started walking towards the mansion. Looking at Lono’s back as he walked ahead… His back looks bigger and more reliable than usual… That was what it felt like.

Chapter Summary – Liam returns home to Cordonia to find Sophie and to address his nation about the university terror attack.
Music & Title Inspiration: Life Goes On, Ed Sheeran, Luke Combs; Run To You, Lucy Thomas
A/N1: Bethany Beaumont, Maxwell’s mother, is originally from the U.S. and is Barthelemy Beaumont’s second wife. Annabelle Beaumont (deceased) is Bertrand’s mother.
A/N2: ‘Social Season’ in this AU series refers to a traditional period in the spring/summer for royalty and members of the court to take part in Balls, dinner parties and charity events.
A/N3: Heartfelt thanks to @Selina012 for joining me in writing ideas and with dialogue/content for this chapter and series.
Aboard the Royal jet, Rashad peered outside the window and took in the white sands of Cordonia's shores passing by. Suddenly his ears popped, and the pilot spoke over the intercom, announcing the estimated arrival time was in 5 minutes. He felt nervous and helpless and could not help but repeat his fears in his mind: ‘There hasn't been any good news’.
Drake watched Liam walk away from his seat, his hand curled around a glass tumbler filled with an expensive scotch. He wondered if they would hear news before they landed. Remembering his best friend's emotional spiral downward after the past assassination attempt three years ago at the palace; this had the makings of that same pattern. This time though, Drake was not going to leave Liam alone.
The dire problem of not having any clues where Sophie was at the moment was suffocating.
As they waited to land, the minutes seemed to draw out. There was not much he or any of Liam's guards could do but wait and prepare to offer the crown prince their full support.
Liam finished off his scotch, the fiery liquid barely registering, and tried to review the notes for his upcoming address to his nation in his head while stepping into his private suite onboard.
There had still been no update on his beloved Sophie's whereabouts or circumstances.
He took a deep, long breath and turned to Bastien walking next to him with unmistakable determination. "Bastien, contact the security team back home immediately. I need all the current details on the scene and an update on the rescue operations."
Bastien sprang into action, calling the security team leader and putting him on speakerphone so that Liam could hear the conversation in real time. Captain Sean Wilson answered the call.
"Captain, this is Crown Prince Liam Rys, requesting an update on the incident at the University of Cordonia." Liam's voice came through the phone speaker, clear and strong.
"Your Highness, the situation at the scene is complicated and we have deployed additional rescue teams to help facilitate the speedy rescue and recovery process.”
The captain’s voice was tired but remained professional. "We have confirmation that multiple students have been injured in the shooting. We have increased security three-fold around the campus and are working diligently to track down the suspects."
Liam's fists clenched involuntarily, but he remained stoic as he continued. "I need a complete list of all the known casualties. I want to know about each and every one."
"Your Highness, we have established a comprehensive emergency response mechanism. At present, we are compiling the information and rescue teams are working at full ability. The list of casualties is being urgently collated, and I will send it to you via encrypted channels as soon as it is completed."
Liam nodded, and though he could not be seen, there was an unmistakable insistence in his tone: "I need this completed as soon as possible. In addition, please continue to strengthen the search and rescue efforts to ensure the safety of all students. At the same time, increase the manpower to hunt down the suspects and I demand that they be brought to justice in the shortest possible time."
Shortly after hanging up, the sound of an encrypted email rang on Liam's tablet, which he quickly clicked on; and displayed a list of known casualties on the screen as asked. There were fourteen people in the column of the dead, and dozens of names in the column of the injured. Liam took a deep breath and began to go through the list of names, one by one, each name like a sharp blade, stabbing at his heart. He searched carefully, afraid to miss any possible detail. But until the end, he did not find Sophie's name.
Liam clenched his fists, his eyes shining with unshakeable determination. "Bastien, as soon as the jet lands, we will go to the scene and assess the situation personally.”
Bastien, at once responded: "Yes, Your Highness. I will ensure that everything is in place."
Liam turned his head to stare out the window at the clouds; his heart was in turmoil. Although Sophie's name did not appear on the list of casualties, his fears did not diminish. He knew that the lack of news did not mean that Sophie was necessarily safe. That she might still be struggling, or that for some reason she might not be able to communicate with the outside world. He had to ensure that Sophie was safe personally.
Thinking of this, he took out his phone and touched Sophie’s number with trembling fingers. But all he heard on the other end of the line was a cold, robotic voice: 'Sorry, the number you are trying to reach is unavailable.'
Sending a text, he carefully tapped every letter, as he expressed his worries and thoughts.
'Love, please call me as soon as you get this message. I'm worried about you.'
___
'Where are you? Are you safe? Why can't I reach you?'
___
'I'm already on my way back to Cordonia. Please wait for me. Please.'
As the minutes ticked by, the 'unread' message on the screen was an ironic and cruel reminder of the futility of all his efforts.
Frustrated, he then tried to call Sophie's aunt and then sent a text message to Maxwell. 'Max, are you okay? Where are you? Have you heard from Sophie?'
Shortly after, his phone vibrated and Liam checked the text immediately .... only to see Maxwell reply,
"Liam, me and Daniel are at the Malic Hotel now, we're all right. But Sophie got separated in the confusion!!!!😢 I have been trying to reach her without success. I'm really worried about her.'
Receiving this update, Liam, although still anxious, was also relieved that Maxwell felt safe. He immediately replied: "Max, good to hear you're okay. Please keep in touch, I'll be back as soon as I can, and we'll find Sophie together."
Liam then picked up his phone again and sent a text message to Sophie's Aunt Bethany:
'Duchess Bethany, this is Liam. How are you? Have you heard from Sophie? I am very concerned for her safety.'
A few minutes later, Bethany replied to his message: 'Your Highness, I'm fine, but Sophie hasn't been heard from since the ceremony. I am also anxiously awaiting her contact. Please try to not worry, I'm sure she will be all right'
Liam's heart sank to rock bottom as he closed his eyes, silently praying that she would be found safe and unharmed. At the same time, he also felt a deep sorrow for all the innocent victims of the attack. He understood as crown prince, he had the responsibility and obligation, along with his father, to ensure the security of the country and its people. This attack was an acute test of his leadership.
University of Cordonia, Capital
As Sophie wandered aimlessly through the maze of people, her eyes welled up. The adrenaline of an earlier escape from the auditorium faded and she felt more sadness, fear and heartache than she had ever felt before. For a moment, she could not control her emotions and tears ran down her cheeks. How she wished it all had been a bad dream, that she would wake up and find that it had all been a false alarm.
An hour later, Sophie and other surviving students and guests were evacuated in an orderly manner to a hotel outside of the campus, the Malic Hotel. The hotel was temporarily requisitioned as an emergency shelter and was surrounded by police and security personnel to ensure internal safety and order. But even so, there was an indescribable tension and unease still in the air.
Sophie had been assigned to room 302. The moment she stepped into her hotel room; Sophie could finally catch her breath. She sat wearily on the edge of the bed, looking out of the window with empty eyes, but her mood could not be calmed. She was eager to know more about what happened at the graduation, especially the mysterious men in black masks, their identity, purpose and why they were there; all of these became lingering questions in her mind.
She instinctively wanted to turn on her phone, hoping to find some clue or news report that would at least give her a sense of what had happened. But reality threw icy water at her - her phone screen was broken and riddled with cracks. She quickly pressed the power button, but the screen only flickered a few times, and then no longer responded. Sophie's eyes flashed with despair, as her contact with the outside world was completely cut off.
Thoughts came like a flood. She missed her Aunt Bethany, who supported her no matter what she was going through, who gave her endless warmth and encouragement, and who always made her feel at home in Cordonia. At the same time, she missed her horse, Marabelle. Every time she mounted Marabelle's back and galloped across the wide fields of Ramsford, all her troubles seemed to go away with the wind. Marabelle's eyes were always full of trust and loyalty, and there was a tacit understanding between them without words. How she wished now that she could feel the freedom and joy of running with Marabelle again.
But most of all, she missed Liam. In this unknown and dangerous moment, how she wished he could be with her, give her support and comfort. Liam, the man she was in love with, who gave her strength. She had never been so impatient to see him, to feel safe in his arms.
Now, however, she could only face all this alone; tears in her eyes had slipped down once again. In addition to missing Liam, Sophie's mind was filled with anxiety about the attack. She did not know how many people had been injured or even killed in the attack; whether Candy and Tom would get better, or what was going on with Maxwell and Daniel. They were her friends and family, and their safety stuck with her. She prayed silently that they would be safe.
Amidst this anxiety, there was so many questions. Who were those men in black at the graduation? Why would they target innocent students? What is the purpose behind this attack?
What puzzled her even more was the emblem of the earth and the baby. What does it mean? What has it got to do with the attack?
Her mind was full of confusion and uneasiness, questions swirled with no answers in sight, leaving her breathless. She tried to piece together every detail of the night in her mind, hoping to remember a clue or an answer. But the images were fragmented, leaving her unable to grasp and put together any useful information.
"Liam ..." Sophia muttered under her breath. She recalled what Liam had said about what he had experienced as a young prince and the memories of an assassination attempt that had fear cutting through his heart like a sharp blade.
Exhaustion came flooding in, overwhelming all her thoughts and feelings. Sophie lay in bed, breathing smoothly and deeply, and her body relaxed, as if all her worries and pain had been temporarily released at that moment. She drifted off to sleep with all her doubts, uneasiness, sadness, and longing for Liam.
The Royal Palace, Cordonia
The press was relentless. Inside the throne room, King Constantine stood stoically, as members of the press core demanded answers about the campus attack. Constantine cleared his throat and addressed the press directly and with the assurance of his years of reign and released a statement:
“At this dark hour, I stand before you with profound grief and pain in my heart. Like many of you, I am mourning the lives lost today, and we pray for the wounded to make a full recovery.
While we grieve the senseless violence that struck our country, we are also furious with the loss and sorrow brought on by those responsible for this evil act. We cannot and will not tolerate the murder and harming of innocent lives simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Those who commit such unspeakable acts will be held accountable and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the crown.”
Stepping down from the dais, Constantine was at once escorted by his royal guard out of the throne room. He looked visibly shaken and gripped his cane, trying to stand straight and upright.
Constantine's face was pale, and his eyes were filled with deep sorrow, his elderly face looked worn. But he refused to shed tears, still maintaining his dignified manner, while in public.
Lawrence, his personal guard, moved quickly to his side, “Your Majesty, the Royal jet has just landed with your son.”
Malic Motor Hotel, temporary safe house, University of Cordonia
The second group of surviving students were transported to the Malic hotel in orderly batches by the police in the pre-dawn night. The bright lights in the lobby could not hide the tension and in these in the air. Police officers, security personnel and medical staff were busy shuttling through the hallways to ensure that every student was properly accommodated.
The noise of footsteps and a murmur of conversation broke the sounds of the night. Sophie woke up, opened her eyes slightly, and through a gap in the half-closed curtains. She saw several figures hurrying along the corridor, as if new survivors had been brought in. She got up and dressed. Soon the door was gently opened, and a figure slowly entered the room. It was a girl about Sophie's age, a little wobbly in her step, visibly shaken by the night's horror and still reeling from the shock.
"Hey, um ... excuse me. I was assigned to this room. Is it okay if I come in?" The girl's voice was small and trembling, and her eyes were slightly timid.
Sophie at once stood up and smiled back, "Hello, come on in." The girl came closer, and Sophie could see her face. She had an East Asian face, long deep brown hair, and large black eyes full of fear and confusion, as if she had just woken up from a nightmare.
The girl said softly, "thank you, my name is Hana. What happened tonight was terrible ..."
Sophie took Hana's hand and sat her down on the edge of the bed. "Hi Hana, my name is Sophie. I know we have been through the same horror. But it is all right now. We can talk together and maybe it will make you feel better." Sophie tried to sound calm and friendly, hoping to bring some comfort to the girl.
Hana gave Sophie a grateful look, and took a deep breath. She began with great determination to recount her own experience at the graduation.
"I was with friends and all of a sudden the lights went out and they were gunshots ... I tried to run away, but there were screams and chaos all around me. I really don't know how I got out. I was taken to the stadium with some people and stayed there almost overnight until we were brought here. But I never saw my friends again. I got separated from them, I do not know what became of them..." Hana wiped tears from her eyes.
Sophie listened quietly, with a surge of sympathy and understanding. She thought of her friends Candy and Tom, and her cousin Maxwell and Daniel, and a pang of worry filled her heart.
"Hana, I've had my own friends injured and go missing too. Candy's arm was hit by shrapnel, Tom was shot in the shoulder, and they are both in the hospital; and Maxwell and Daniel got separated from me when they escaped. I am really worried about them. But I'm sure they will be all right. Your friends must have gotten out safely, too. You must believe that."
Hana's eyes flashed with emotion and trust as she listened to Sophie's words. "Sophie, you are such a strong person. If only I could be as brave as you."
Sophie patted Hana's arm gently and smiled wryly.
"Hana, it's normal to be afraid in this situation. In fact, I am also afraid, and all the people who have been through this attack."
Then Sophie's tone became a little heavier, and she decided to tell Hana what she had seen. With that, Sophie picked up the paper and pen on the table in the room and drew the sign from memory. Hana's face turned pale when she saw Sophie's drawing; her eyes widened, and she repeated in disbelief, "you saw this sign?"
Sophie nodded, her words unmistakable, "Yes, I'm sure. It was a very strange sign. I saw it clearly. They acted quickly and in an orderly manner. They were not ordinary thugs."
Hana held Sophie's hand tightly, her voice shaking slightly. "This sign, I have seen on the news, but with what specific event, I can't remember. However, it is definitely unusual and must be the hallmark of an organisation or group."
Sophie's eyes sharpened, and she frowned in thought. "This is no coincidence. The men in black were clearly prepared, and their attack may well have been targeted. We must tell the police about this as soon as possible.”
Hana shuddered, her voice filled with fear and worry. "But... will that put us in danger? If they are really that powerful, will they retaliate?"
Sophie's heartrate quickened. Of course she was afraid. The scene of Candy and Tom being shot and wounded replayed again before her eyes. The blood staining their shirts, the pain and helplessness weaving in their desperate eyes. These were images that she could never forget.
Then, in her mind, the panic of people running away, their faces showing fear and helplessness. Screams, cries, and pleas for help made up the most tragic symphony of the night. Fires were burning, the smoke was billowing, and the whole evening was enveloped in despair and confusion.
But thinking of the students who had been victimized, of Maxwell and Daniel who were still missing, and of Candy and Tom who were still in the hospital ... Sophie took a deep breath and quieted her heart. She could not let her fear consume her. She knew that her friends needed her. ... 'If you do not step up, Sophie, this kind of tragedy will happen again.'
Sophie stiffened her resolve, her voice was soft, yet powerful: "No, Hana, we cannot stay quiet. Candy, Tom, and your friends are just some of the many people who were hurt tonight. If we stay silent because we are afraid, more people will be hurt in the future. We can't let this continue to happen."
Hana's fear was replaced by a kind of courage as she listened to Sophie's words. "You're right, Sophie. I won't back down," She nodded firmly.
"Sophie, I'm so happy to meet you." Hana looked sheepishly at Sophie, blushing.
"If it wasn't for you, I don't know what I would have done."
She touched Hana's arm and smiled, "I know you have determination, too, Hana." Sophie was genuinely happy ... happy to be friends with Hana.
Sophie hesitated for a moment, then whispered to Hana, "Hana, can you show me the news? My phone broke during the attack." She pulled out her cracked cell phone.
Hana nodded, and picked up her phone from the nightstand to open the news app. Together, they stared at the small screen, searching for news related to last night's university shooting.
On the screen, several shocking reports soon came into view. The mass shooting at the University of Cordonia had attracted widespread attention from the national and international community. The report detailed the chaos and bloodshed of the night, but also said that the police were fully investigating the incident and promised to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible. As she read, she felt mixed feelings.
Sophie continued browsing. Suddenly, a marked headline hit her eyes and made her heart beat faster. --
"Crown Prince Liam Rys urgently ends his visit to Italy and returns home to respond to the shooting incident at Cordonia University."
She tapped eagerly; the live broadcast of the news began automatically.
On the screen, Liam stood in the doorway of the familiar white, shadowy auditorium, behind which the smoke had not fully cleared and live images of ambulances and police cars could be seen. Liam's figure stood unwavering behind press microphones.. He wore a black suit, his eyes were slightly solemn, but his face was more resolute and decided, that could not be ignored.
Sophie stared intently at the screen, every subtle expression of Liam tugging at her heartstrings. His voice came clearly over the phone, calm and strong.
Sophie's eyes were red and brimmed with tears. Her heart was racing, as she felt Liam's deep emotion coming through the screen. And then Liam's words turned to unquestioning determination:
Sophie stared at the screen, her tears spilling onto her cheeks. The moment she heard him say the words, 'Our Cordonian family', her heart swelling with indescribable excitement and pride; she wanted to run to his side and face all of this with him. However, this emotion was quickly overcome by reason, knowing that she could not expose her relationship with Liam, especially when there were other people around watching. She gently turned down the volume on the phone for fear that Hana would notice her emotional reactions. She clutched the phone tightly, as if she could feel Liam's presence and power in her hand.
"Sophie, what's wrong?"
Hana's voice sounded softly, interrupting her thoughts. Sophie suddenly came back to herself with a disguised smile, trying to sound natural. "Oh, nothing, I just didn't expect Prince Liam to be back so soon, it's only been a few hours since the shooting."
There was a subtle tremor in Sophie's words, afraid that her mind would be read by Hana and cause unnecessary trouble for Liam. She knew that at this particular moment she had to be careful not to reveal her relationship with Liam.
"Hana, could I possibly use your phone again? I want to send a text to my family and tell them about my situation."
Hana heard her words, a flicker of concern in her eyes. She seemed aware of Sophie's inner struggle and longing, but out of respect and trust, she did not ask any more questions, just smiled and nodded, "Of course, Sophie." You can use it whenever you need."
Sophie gave Hana a grateful look, and a warm wave came through her heart. She quickly opened the text messages on the phone, her fingers jumping over the keyboard, as she sent two messages. The first one to Aunt Bethany and the second one to Maxwell. In the text messages, Sophie told them that she was doing well and that they should not worry. She expressed concern for Maxwell and Daniel and hoped they were safe.
After sending the two texts, Sophie took a deep breath and began her text to Liam. She edited the text carefully ...
"Hi, Li, this is Sophie.
I'm all right. I am in Room 302 at the Malic Hotel at the university.
There was a shooting at the graduation, and I was lucky to escape. My phone is broken, and now I'm texting you on my roommate, Hana's phone.
I know you must be terribly busy and worried at the moment, but please believe me, I am fine and safe.
Don't worry about me. Just focus on what's needed right in front of you. I love you and look forward to seeing you soon."
The message didn't mention Liam's real name, and Sophie was confident that he would get her message. After pressing the send button, the words "Delivered" appeared on the screen. Suppressing her feelings, she quickly removed the text message, making sure it left no trace.
It didn’t take long for Sophie to hear back from Maxwell and Aunt Bethany.
Maxwell:
“Sophie, it’s so good to hear from you! Daniel and I are at the Malic Hotel too, and we are doing fine. We were looking for you, too. Just relieved to hear you are okay. We’ll talk more when we meet up.”
Aunt Bethany:
“Dear Sophie, I’m so happy to hear from you! Thank God you are okay. We are all so worried about you, but now we can relax. Be safe and we will see each other soon.”
After receiving notifications of incoming messages, the corners of her mouth cannot help but raise in a happy smile, a big stone in her heart finally fell to the ground. Sophie held the phone and re-read their loving words, feeling the warmth and support from her family.
A ray of sunlight penetrated a gap in the curtain and gently spilled into the hotel room, shining on Sophie's face. She gently closed her eyes, quietly feeling the warmth of the sun, the soft light made her very at ease, like a pair of warm hands, smoothing her fear and anxiety away. She was relieved that Maxwell and Daniel had escaped safely and that she could tell Aunt Bethany about herself.
And Liam will know that she's safe. Sophie found a trace of comfort and strength in reaching out to him.
"Thank you, Hana." Sophie smiled and handed the phone back to her new friend.
Hana took the phone and put it away, quietly watching it all, with a warm glow in her eyes. She may not know the story between Sophie and Liam, but she could sense that there was a deep emotion and connection with him in Sophie's heart. In this time of uncertainty, they were supporting each other and facing life's challenges together.
Cordonia International Airport
The Royal motorcade was situated on the tarmac in wait to take Liam and his men to the university.
Liam strode quickly and confidently to his SUV after his security detail had provided Liam with a report of all the victims and fatalities. Sophie's name was not listed, and Liam's heart remained uncertain, until he saw her with his own eyes.
His duty of keeping alert and informed for his country allowed Liam to control his fears of the possibility of seeing his beloved injured or worse. He fought against every fiber of his being to not burst through the chaos, with full disregard, to search for Sophie among the evacuated students. Liam, surrounded by his royal guard, Drake and Rashad, he walked onto the university grounds.
Drake, on the other hand, was not worried about propriety and cared for none of it. He rushed in and did not pay attention to anything but finding Sophie and Maxwell. He broke past some of the law enforcement and was met by a swarm of flashing cameras and press microphones.
"Back away!" He snapped, having to put his forearm up, and not relent. The flashing bulbs, whirring of camera lenses and questions being thrown at him was enough to drive any sane person mad.
"Don't you have decency? What type of scoundrels and fiends are you?"
An officer who recognized Drake, yelled, "settle down, everyone, he's an American friend of the prince's, stand down and don't crowd him."
On the campus of the University of Cordonia, even after several hours had passed, the chaos in the auditorium had not abated by a minute. Several police cars and ambulances, flashing their warning lights, stood by the side of the road at the ready. Police officers and ambulance workers were busy moving around the scene, serious and focused, although physically and mentally exhausted, but still stuck to their posts, to deal with the incident.
A police cordon has been placed around the scene to seal off the auditorium from the outside world. Liam saw the chaos and destruction ... and the despair of his people.
Liam took a deep breath, adjusted his emotions, and walked resolutely into the crowd and up onto the raised dais. The crowd grew quiet, and all eyes turned to the crown prince.
" Last night, our university campus has experienced an unprecedented trauma. On behalf of the royal family of Cordonia, I extend my sincere comfort and deepest condolences to all those who have been hurt and who have been affected by this tragedy. Your pain is the pain of all Cordonia. We will do everything possible to provide the necessary support and needed assistance to make sure everyone gets through this."
At this point, Liam's eyes flashed a subtle tenderness, that is his endless miss and love for Sophie.
But Liam took a deep breath and condensed his emotions and anger into a powerful determination.
"We will not sit idly by and let go of any of these terrorists. I promise that the Crown will use all resources in its power to track down the attackers and punish those responsible for this tragedy. We will bring justice to the victims, and to our people, to our Cordonian family."
***
The sky in the east gradually lightened as the night slowly faded; like the tide falling, as if in response to his words. A ray of dawn pierced the darkness, and the sun rose at last. The golden light slowly and gently spread over the campus, silently dispelling the darkness and cold; to bring a touch of warmth to the morning. There was renewed trust and hope in the eyes of the crowd. At this moment, they are silently praying, their hearts are full of deep hope: may such a tragedy never be repeated, so that the dead can rest in peace, and so that the living can find the strength to move forward; In the hope that the murderer will be punished, and there will be no hiding places of any crimes and evils.
As the Royal guard escorted Liam from the stage, Bastien approached with Liam’s mobile phone in hand.
“Sir, Lady Sophia has left you a message.”

[Story Translation] Chapter Three - Yuhan's Conflict [Episode Two: Part Four]
↫ previous story | story list | next story ↬
- The Central County - The Foot of the Mountain -
Berrien:
“Master, this way... This is where we're supposed to meet the Sardeis Family."
Berrien:
“Please greet them, as our Master."
Choices:
“Got it."
Haures:
“It looks like they're not here yet."
- Some Time Later -
Lono:
“Damn the Sardeis Family... Why on earth do they want to join us?."
Boschi:
“As our "support", too. They're mocking us..."
Boschi:
“We'll end up being the ones helping them."
Haures:
“Lono, Boschi. What are you doing out here? You can wait in the carriage, you know?"
Lono:
“I was worried the Sardeis Family might say something rude to our Master."
Boschi:
“It's better if we put pressure on them from the start."
Choices:
“Thanks for worrying about me."
Haures:
“This isn't a childish squabble."
Lono:
“Either way, they always find a way to stick their damn noses in..."
Berrien:
“That's just how international politics is."
Berrien:
“Working with the Grosvenor scounting party and protecting the Sardeis guard are orders from Lord Finlay..."
Boschi:
“I don't get why we have to protect people who allegedly came to support us."
Haures:
“Enough complaining."
Haures:
“The meeting was supposed to start by now..."
Berrien:
“It looks like they just arrived."
step step
Yuhan:
“We'll be joining you on this mission, Devil Butlers."
Lono:
“You're Yuhan..."
Yuhan:
“It's nice to see you, Mr. Lono."
Yuhan:
“I'm sorry for the trouble I caused last time we met, Master..."
Boschi:
“You're the guy who stabbed us in the back last time, aren't you?"
Boschi:
“Bold of you to show your face around here after that."
Yuhan:
“I-I..."
step step
Bastien:
“It's fine, Boschi."
Boschi:
“What do you mean, Bastien?"
Berrien:
“We've actually had the chance to speak to Yuhan recently. During our mission at the circus."
Choices:
“That's right."
Berrien:
“He apologised to us then."
Berrien:
“Apparently, even he didn't know about his leader's plan."
Yuhan:
“I caused you all a lot of pain..."
Yuhan:
“Even though I didn't know, I still helped them carry out their plan."
Yuhan:
“I really am sorry."
Choices:
"Mr. Yuhan..."
Bastien:
“You don't have to bow your head like that. We already accepted your apology."
Bastien:
“You don't need to say sorry anymore."
Yuhan:
“No. I haven't apologised to all the butlers yet."
Yuhan:
“It's only polite that I do."
Yuhan:
“I would like to apologise again, as a member of the Sardeis Family."
Choices:
"O-oh..."
Yuhan:
“I know this isn't my place to say..."
Yuhan:
“But I really do respect the Devil Butlers. You saved the world and continue to protect us all."
Yuhan:
“And yet... Our leader..."
Yuhan:
“We really have been extremely rude."
Boschi:
“Tsk. Whatever..."
step step
Berrien:
“Boschi..."
Choices:
“He seemed angry..."
Berrien:
“I apologise for his rudeness, Mr. Yuhan."
Yuhan:
“No, please don't worry. I knew my apology wouldn't be an easily accepted one."
Yuhan:
“I already planned to apologise properly and thoroughly."
Lono:
“Well, I'm glad you're the one who came."
Lono:
“I wouldn't be able to handle another one of your annoying friends."
Yuhan:
“Haha... I'm glad."
Yuhan:
“I'll try my best not to get in your way during this mission."
Yuhan:
“I only brought my closest accomplices with me."
Yuhan:
“They're like family to me. I know I can trust them."
Yuhan:
“They won't do anything uncouth behind our backs like that time. Please, don't worry."
Haures:
“Your name is Yuhan, isn't it? You were betrayed just as much as us."
Yuhan:
“It's embarrassing to admit but... Yes."
Haures:
“This is an extremely important mission. We will most likely be attacked by a large number of Angels at once."
Haures:
“If you behave, we'll continue to protect you. But that protection ends the moment you start acting suspicious."
Yuhan:
“I understand. We'll stay out of your way."
Yuhan:
“I look forward to working with you, Master of the Devil Butlers."
Choices:
“M-me too."
After that...
We began to make our way to the Seventh Tower.

The King's Mistress
Series: None, this is a one-shot and you can find those here.
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Rating: NSFW 🍋
Warnings for this chapter: Slight Lemons, infidelity
Word Count: 822
My other stuff: Master List.

Story is under the cut.......
The Duchess of Valtoria was perched on the edge of an expansive mahogany desk with her head thrown back and her elegant evening gown hiked up around her waist, moans of ecstasy spilling out of her as the king stood with his pants tangled around his ankles thrusting into her. Her perfectly manicured nails sank into his ass, spurring him on.
He had been waiting for a moment alone with her all damn day. Sitting next to her for two hours in the budget meeting had been bad enough, but then she had shown up at the annual Ambassador’s Ball in a dress that ought to be criminal. Holding her in his arms on the dance floor while maintaining proper decorum had been excruciating. Getting her somewhere private had jumped to number one on his priority list.
Her screams filled his ears as his eyes locked on her face, watching the rapturous euphoria of her release dance across her features. She cried out his name as he spilled himself inside her.
“Riley…” his lips brushed the side of her neck as a hand tangled in her hair and pulled her closer.
He couldn’t get enough of her. He was bewitched by the way she loved with such wild abandon. She cared nothing for the intrigues of the court or the judgments of others. She was a wild thing, free in a way he longed to be.
He had been surrounded his entire life by crown chasers and sycophants, but Riley was different.
Maybe the raging inferno she ignited within him was love, or perhaps she represented the path he had almost chosen before duty and sacrifice had landed him right back where he started.
Either way, she had chosen him when she’d had no idea who he was. And that meant something to him.
He stepped away from her reluctantly and pulled his pants up. “I should get back before my wife sends a search party to find me.”
Riley made a face as she scooted to the edge of the desk. A slight sound of displeasure issued from the back of her throat.
He took her hand and helped her to her feet. Despite his assertation that he was needed back in the ballroom forthwith, he took his time carefully and tenderly helping her adjust her dress back into place. His fingers kept making detours to trail down a bare arm or trace across the back of her neck.
When her clothes were righted, his hands ran once again through her now tousled hair. “Sorry, I made a mess of that updo.”
“It’s ok,” she laughed as she plucked the few remaining clips free and shook her head, sending waves of riotous curls cascading down her back. “But I am going to need a little help fixing it.”
“Hm.” A bright smile lit up his face as humor danced through his ocean blue eyes. “I command armies, negotiate with dictators, and the Cordonian stock market can rise or fall based on my mood, but alas, I am utterly helpless in the face of a hair emergency.”
“I know!” She gave him a playful slap on the shoulder, “But I left my phone in my clutch, which is back in the ballroom…”
His grin widened. “It’s ok, I’ve got you.” He produced his phone and brandished it in front of her. “Hana?”
“Hana,” she agreed with a nod.
His fingers flew across the phone pad as he sent a text to Bastien Lykel, the head of his king’s guard, to find and escort Lady Hana Lee to his office.
“She’s on her way. I hate to leave you, but I really do need to get back. The ambassador from Rival—”
“It’s fine, go.” She waved him away as she headed for the attached bathroom to check on her makeup. Being seen re-entering the ballroom together would just cause more whispers anyway.
Not that the entire country didn’t already know. They hadn’t been that discreet. Their relationship was an open secret at court. She was the maîtresse-en-titre as the French would say. The king’s official royal mistress, complete with all the money, titles, land, and security that provided.
She knew that what she gave him in return was more than sex. It was companionship, romantic intimacy, advice, conversation, and a shoulder to lean on when he needed it.
He had married for political reasons, family obligations, and tradition. There was no love between the king and queen.
Still, this wasn’t where she saw her life going when she met him on that cruise ship and mistook him for a broke college student.
His voice stopped her before she made it through the door. “Hey, Riley?”
She turned back toward him. “Yeah?”
That grin that always sent butterflies shocking through her broke out across his face. “I love you.”
She returned his smile as he retreated into the hallway. “I love you too, Leo.”

Companions reaction to the Inquisitor asking them to be their Maid of Honor/Best Man at their wedding? (Cassandra should've been at the wedding with Sera and my Inquisitor tbh)
(Setting this post Trespasser for continuity.)
Cassandra: The air is filled, immediately and impossibly, with hearts. So few of Cassandra's friends are free to promise themselves to a spouse, and so over the years the Seeker had relinquished that childhood dream to oblivion. But now there is such joy among her dearest friends, and no matter how long or short the engagement and planning Cassandra will be there for everything they need.
And on the day will cry more than anyone else. Everyone will be threatened into forgetting this about her.
Solas:

Varric: Now this is the happy ending to a story he can get behind. Promise an open bar and he is in.
For all of his bluster and faked nonchalance, Kirkwall's viscount is deeply touched. Over the course of this inquisition he has made friends to rival the ones in Kirkwall, and the fact that those sentiments are returned enough to merit such an invitation mean the world. Immediately he takes over logistics, and no matter if there is limited time to plan the wedding goes off without a hitch.
His speech is legendary. People cry. He's putting it in his next book.
Blackwall: It's ridiculous. It's a common request, from a friend, to stand up with them at their wedding. After all this time it shouldn't even be a surprise. But the question brings him to his proverbial knees. For so long, even after everyone knew the truth, Thom Rainier had assumed himself to be unlovable. Tolerated in a time of war for what he brought to the table, but not worthy of true regard.
This is a gift the finally unlocks those chains. He might not know much about weddings, but no matter what they need their would be warden does his best. Like Cassandra, he openly weeps at the ceremony.
Sera: Nothin' like love to make a wedding a party! This may be the one time Sera tones down the pranks, too focused on making sure both the little and big people are happy. Dorian is heavily consulted on clothing, and Skyhold's resident Jenny might even submit to a haircut.
The bakers in Thedas weep for her designs. They are perfect. Might go into the cake business, if cookies don't hold out.
Whole thing goes off without a hitch. Well, except for the actual hitch. That goes perfect.
Vivienne: Darling she is thrilled. No matter their venue or plans Madame de Fer is quick to make sure they have the best. Appointments open, caterers are suddenly free, and her tailors are on hand to make sure that everyone in the wedding party looks their best.
There is some distant sorrow later, watching the couple dance the first of the rest of their lives together, but not for all the gold in the world would she have traded her life with Bastien. That was more than enough for one heart-- it is no trial to be happy for her friends.
Dorian: No matter his travel plans or the demands of the magisterium, the moment they ask Dorian is firmly rooted in place. These people have welcomed him like no other, and to be honored with such a role is...he will not cry in public. It is unseemly for a magister.
Instead he make sure everything he touches is made perfect for them and all problems directed his way. Let them relish in the bliss of their engagement-- he will fight the florists until they realize Minrathous roses are the only way to go. And on the day, he sits patiently with both spouses until their cosmetics are perfect. But that time is also spent in quiet friendship, a moment of peace before their special moment.
Later he will refuse to ruin his own foundation with tears in public, and be quietly smug that his knock down brawl with the sommelier resulted in the best vintages at table.
The Iron Bull: There are flowers everywhere. From the moment he is asked Operation: Wedding is a full go for the Chargers. Marriage is unknown under the Qun, and so in true Ben-Hassrath form Bull takes it upon himself to learn exactly what this role will entail.
Three crashed marriages and a lot of cursing later....well, the venue is perfect, Rocky has invented a confetti cannon, and Krem has earned his place at the Maker's side for turning out a formal coat that will fit his shoulders in record time.
He cries at the ceremony. Few guests are brave enough to comment.
Cole: "Stand as a witness, the best man even if you aren't a man. Be there to celebrate, always a good friend and I want him at my side. I want that too!"
Any guest with ill intent conveniently forget the wedding date and location. One of the florists ties a bow on his hat. People cry, but the tears don't hurt. Its confusing, but he's happy to be there.
Turns out cake is something enjoyed on both sides of the veil.

Summary:
It's Coronation night and the unthinkable has happened for the new King of Cordonia as the woman of his dreams gets dragged out of the ballroom.

Author's note:
Prepare yourself for all the angst and heartbreak as the story is told mostly from the young King's perspective.
Rated: M for Mature - Angst, swearing, violence, bodily harm, car chase, fluff

The crowded ballroom was filled with a cacophony of sound, but Nicholas tuned it all out. At the back of the room, the love of his life, Kate Darling, was being dragged away by his own security guards. Her face was twisted in a look of shock and betrayal as their eyes met. He mouthed a silent, Kate, as the crowd poured into the space where she had once stood. His eyes frantically searched for her, but she was gone.
Next to him on the stage Madeleine stood with a perfectly crafted fake smile on her face. He was still holding her hand, because he had just named her as his choice as Queen. Her name had left a sour taste in his mouth, and he felt queasy. A cold sweat bloomed on his upper lip, and he lifted his other hand to his mouth to wipe it.
"Nicholas?.. Nicholas?..."she said behind her clenched white teeth, "Say something."
She curled her fingernails into his palm to get his attention and he recoiled, dropping her hand.
He raised his hands up in an attempt to appease the uproar of the people as the wave of sound finally enveloped him like a tide. "Please! Please Everyone! If you could direct your attention this way." He raised his voice and the heads started to turn and the crowd began to still.
"Thank-you." He stepped closer to Madeleine and tucked his forearm stiffly behind her back to draw her to him. He looked at Madeleine and then turned back to the crowd and forced a happy smile onto his face.
"Please allow me to present her Royal Highness, Queen Madeleine Amaranth."
The crowd of strangers erupted into applause, their faces beaming with pride for their new King and Queen.
As he held his smile in place, his stepmother Regina walked over to stand at his other side. She grasped his hand, and he squeezed back tightly, making her wince. "Where are they taking her?"
Regina waved to the crowd and then leaned in to answer. "They're sending that insufferable slut back to New York, where she belongs."
"Over my dead body," he grounded back angrily and dropped her hand. He took a step back and with a quick salute to the crowd he slipped through the curtains and then out the door to the balcony.
The warm Mediterranean air smelled much sweeter than all the sweaty heavily perfumed party goers crowded into the ballroom. Not that he didn't wear cologne himself, but he missed the sweet scent of Kate's vanilla perfume most. He took a deep breath and then pulled out his mobile phone. Below the balcony there was a sea of paparazzi photographers and reporters with news cameras and microphones. When they saw him, their shouted appeals for his attention overlapped like squabbling water fowl. He turned away from the camera flashes and the video spotlights to stand in the sliver of shadow next to the building. He tore a small hanging flower pot off the wall and used it to smash out the bulbs of the light sconces by the doors. This gave him a little more darkness and he heaved a deep sigh to calm himself as he dialed Bastien, his head of security.
Bastien picked up on the second ring, "Yes, Sire? How may I be of service?"
The relative calm in the guards voice made Nicholas lose his own. "..be of service?! What the fuck, Bastien? We never agreed to have her dragged out like a criminal."
"I'm sorry, Sir."
"What happened to quietly escorting her out after the gala was over? And where are Drake and the Beaumont Brothers?"
Bastien broke away to talk to someone else briefly and then returned, "As per your Father's request the Beaumonts and Mr. Walker have also been removed and detained..."
Nicholas interrupted, "Detained? But why? They're hardly threats to anyone."
Bastien calmly replied,"I was just doing as I was told, Sir. But as for Mr. Walker, he is no longer in custody."
Nicholas chuckled, "Of course he isn't. Let me guess, he hit you."
"Not me, Sir. But one of the junior cadets now has a sprained wrist and a broken nose."
"Good, tell him he's fired."
Nicholas hung up and then went to the far corner of the balcony to catch a glimpse of the black line up of fleet vehicles by the gate. Only one had it's engine running. He used his phone to take a picture of it, zooming in on the serial number badge on the back window. 725
He dialed Drake, hoping he was nearby.
A few agonizing seconds of dial tone tone later, Drake answered. He sounded slightly winded as if he was running. "Nic?! ..what the fuck? This is not a good time. .. I'm being chased by one of Bastien's minions."
"Hold on.." Nicholas hung up and then sent an angry text to his head of security.
HRH : Tell your god damned attack dog to stand down and let Drake go.
Nicholas looked back toward the gate. He saw a pair of guards forcefully trying to escort a woman in blue toward the waiting SUV. Kate was putting up the fight of her life. Bless her heart.
His heart sank as he saw one of the guards slap her hard across the face. She went limp in the other guard's arms.
Nicholas's phone started ringing. It was Drake. He kept his eyes on the guards as they shoved her bodily into the back of the SUV. He answered the call.
"Talk to me."
Drake was clearly out of breath, he struggled to put his sentence together. "I ..*huff*..gue..guess ..*huff* I lost him."
"Good, where are you?"
Drake was a little more composed as he replied, "I .. I'm heading toward the service ...entrance by the East Courtyard. I can see a crowd of reporters waiting outside."
Nicholas nodded his approval, "Good, that's right below me. I'll distract them so you can get through."
Drake stopped at the door, "Where do you need me to go?"
Nicholas walked back to the right and closer to the balcony railing. "They're trying to send her back to America, Drake. I just saw some guards shove Kate into the back of an SUV."
"Those bastards! Where, what SUV?" Drake spat back angrily.
"Number 725, over by the gate, and hurry I think they're leaving."
"On it. Just get these paps outta my way. Are you giving me permission to use whatever methods I want."
"Affirmative, BFI is now in effect. Good luck."
Nicholas reached the railing, and as predicted, the reporters followed. A flood of flashing camera light and a chorus of demands met him as he casually leaned on the railing. He ignored their questions and struck up a casual conversation with them instead, determined to take their attention off Drake so he could get away.
"Good Evening everyone. Lovely weather we're having tonight for the Coronation..."
Drake pushed the door open and elbowed his way through the crowd. "Excuse me...pardon me...move! ..Hey, look over that way. The King is doing interviews.."
He stomped through the garden bushes on the edge of the courtyard, taking a short cut to the gate. There were four black SUVs parked by the curb, but none of them had drivers. 725 had already left.
Drake presumed that the airport was the destination, but with the extra traffic in the city tonight clogging the roads because of the gala they shouldn't be too far ahead. On the other side of the gateyard civilian and diplomat cars were parked and waiting. A silver sedan had it's engine running and a chauffeur behind the wheel. Bingo
He looked left and right to check for moving vehicles and then cut across the gravel to the sedan. He knocked on the window and the startled driver looked up from his phone. He buzzed the window down. "Uh, Hello? Is the gala over already?"
Drake shook his head, leaning heavily on the door so he could look the driver in the eye. "No, but I need a ride."
The driver looked over at Drake's large hands as they gripped the door frame. He visibly swallowed. "I'm s..sorry Sir, but I'm here for the ambassador." He glanced down at the phone in his lap and then back at Drake. He started tapping out a message.
"Nope, I wasn't asking."
Drake reached in the window and grabbed the guy's phone out of his hands and threw it like a frisbee off into the bushes. "Go fetch."
The driver protested, "Hey!" And then reached for the door handle to open the door. Drake stepped out of his way and then jumped into the driver's seat. He slammed the door shut and locked it, and then threw the shifter into drive.
Gravel sprayed up from the tires as the Audi dug in deep with its four wheel drive. He tugged the seatbelt across and clicked it into place as he shot through the open gate. He glanced to his left and right quickly to check for impending collisions and then cranked the wheel hard to the left and fishtailed into the line of traffic. He wiped the trickle of sweat off his brow and quickly assessed the road ahead. He eased off the gas and slowed down a little, searching for an opening to weave into. A car up ahead signaled and then changed lanes to turn left. He pulled into the left turning lane and then cut sharply to the right to squeeze into the gap. A chorus of honks protested this move and he shrugged, bite me. As the line of traffic rolled up to a red light, he shifted into Park and struggled his way out of his suit jacket. His phone slipped out of his pocket as his coat got turned inside out and tossed on the passenger seat. His phone rang from where it had landed on the floor as the line of traffic moved again. He shook his head nope and shifted back into Drive.
Nicholas held court with the reporters for about five minutes, just long enough to see the silver sedan exit the gate in a hurry. With a smile he waved goodbye to the reporters and then went back inside the Palace.
The gala was in full swing as if he hadn't left. Music was playing and people were dancing. Everyone else mingled and drank his champagne. He didn't feel like partying. He meandered through the throng of dancers and drinkers. Some of them stopped him long enough to shake his hand. He graciously accepted their congratulations and then moved on. He finally made it to the double doors at the back of the ballroom and the security guards held people back as he passed. He nodded his thanks and then headed for the wood paneled "door" beside the suit of armor in the hallway. It looked like any other carved alcove like all the others, but this one led to his own private elevator. He pressed his thumb print on the scanner hidden inside the shiny button. A vibration signaled that his thumb was read correctly and the panel opened. He stepped in and then pushed the arrow up button. The door slid closed and he sagged back against the wall. He hoped that Drake was successful and got to Kate in time.
Drake crept forward with the traffic, whipping out into the left turning lane to leap frog whenever he could. He wasn't sure how effective this method was, but at least it alleviated the tedium of stop and go traffic. He kept scanning the line of traffic up ahead for the telltale high roofline of the royal fleet SUV. So far no such luck. The exit for the airport was coming up soon, about a kilometre away. Hopefully that route wasn't as crowded as this one.
In the backseat of 725, Kate Darling was lying down with her eyes closed. She wasn't asleep, but listening instead to the two guards arguing in the front seat.
"I told you, we should have taken the turn onto Spencer Avenue. We'd be closer to the airport by now," the guard on the right complained.
"And I told you not to smack the girl around. If that hit gets leaked back at the Palace we're screwed."
The guy on the right shrugged, "Who's she gonna tell? She'll be on a flight back to America within the hour."
Kate touched her sore cheek. There was going to be a big bruise there soon, and it was going to speak for itself. The thought of going back home to America made her want to cry. She had left her old life behind four months ago, and didn't want to go back. She felt the SUV swing hard to the left, and held onto the seat to stop herself from tumbling onto the floor. The vehicle sped forward and Kate's stomach lurched with panic. If they had turned onto another road, it most likely meant that the airport wasn't far away. She had to do something.
Drake saw the turn off for the airport coming up on his left, he signaled and went into the left turning lane. After turning left he took the onramp that swung around to cross over the boulevard that he'd just been on. This road had a faster speed limit and the traffic had thinned out considerably. He leaned into the gas pedal and sped up to make it into the flow of traffic. Now he could definitely catch up. He just hoped he wasn't too far behind.
Kate sat up, and the pain in her head throbbed. He had evidently hit her harder than she thought. She caught the driver's gaze in the rearview mirror and he jumped in surprise. "Oh shit, Cinderella is awake." He smiled uneasily.
She narrowed her eyes at him, "Don't call me that. I have a proper name you know."
The guard on the right turned to look back at her, "It's the color of your dress. It reminds him of Cinderella."
Kate looked down at her dress, "Oh right. I'm Kate by the way. And when Nicholas gets a hold of you two, you'll wish you'd never been born."
The driver scoffed, "We're not afraid of him."
Kate quirked her eyebrow and smirked, she pointed to her swollen cheek. "And when Drake sees this and finds out who you are, you're gonna beg for mercy."
The guy on the right scoffed, "Drake who?"
Kate laughed, but then winced in pain, instantly regretting it, "Oh, He's just the King's best friend and my personal bodyguard. And when I say he takes any harm done to me personally I'm not exaggerating."
The guards up front went quiet, and Kate slid over in her seat and buckled up. This was going to hurt, but it was time to put her plan into action. The doors were all locked because they were traveling forward, but she knew that in the event of an accident that the locks would disengage. She crossed one leg over the other and removed her high heeled shoe. The guards up front weren't paying attention to her anymore. She looked out the darkly tinted window and noticed it was starting to rain. It was go time.
"Hey!" She shouted, and got the startled reaction from the driver that she was expecting. He looked over his shoulder at her and in the process jerked the wheel to the right, at the same time she launched her high heel at his face and it lodged into his eye. He screamed in pain and his hands flew up off the steering wheel, "You Bitch!"
Kate braced herself as the car swung wildly from left to right, and then she heard the tires crunch onto the right hand gravel. A split second later the SUV started to roll and she hugged herself and prayed that the airbags would catch her.

Wine Valentine - Ammon story pt.1 & pt.2

The day after The Valentine's party ended successfully.
While I was resting in my room I remembered the time I spent with Ammon...
A few days ago a party was held at Grosvenor's house...
I was visiting a party venue that Ammon and the others were preparing.
Ammon: So..! Will the wall decorations look like this?
You: Things are going well, aren't they?
Ammon: That's right. We have also decided on which food and wine will be served.
Ammon: The preparations are almost finished. I'll have some spare time.
You: Right.
Ammon: Ah, also. As we've come to Grosvenor's mansion...
Ammon: Aruji-sama. Should we take a walk in the garden?
You: Eh..?
Ammon: I took a glimpse at it as I was preparing for the party. It was a lovely garden.
Ammon: There aren't many chances to visit Grosvenor's garden. I'll make sure to escort aruji-sama properly♪
Ammon: So, aruji-sama... Will you spend some time with me?
You: That seems a bit intimate...
Ammon: Isn't that good..? There's no one here now.
Hanamaru: ... We are literally here?
Ammon: Oh? If it isn't Hanamaru-san.
Hanamaru: Don't "oh" me. We've been here from the very beginning.
Ammon: Hehe. My bad~
Ammon: There's only lord in my eyes...
Bastien: Hm... That's not good, Ammon-san.
Bastien: As aruji-sama's butler... You should always be aware of your surroundings.
Ammon: Are you serious, Bastien..
Yuhan: Fufu... I also don't think that it's good to keep things all to yourself, Ammon-san.
Lato: Me too... I also want to walk alone with aruji-sama.
Ammon: Hehe. Well, I guess I can't just monopolize aruji-sama~
Ammon: The Valentine's Day is almost there... I feel like spending some romantic time with aruji-sama.
You: "Romantic time" you say...
Ammon: Huh? After all, that's what the Valentine's day is about?
Hanamaru: Oh my... Don't just say that, Ammon. We're all holding back here.
Hanamaru: Isn't this right, everyone? We all want to be romantic with aruji-sama?
Yuhan: Now, what is it? I'm a well-mannered butler.
Hanamaru: Liar. For those who say that, it's better...
Yuhan: ...Better..? What is it?
Hanamaru: Nothing.
You: (I wonder what it was...)
Yuhan: Right. By the way, Ammon-san...
Yuhan: As the food and drinks were decided... How about to choose flowers to decorate the room?
Ammon: Right, flowers...
Ammon: In the eastern land... There's a custom to arrange flowers, right?
Lato: Arranging... flowers?
Ammon: Right. It's a bit different in Central land.
Ammon: Combined with a beautiful vase... A well-thought-out beauty.
Yuhan: Yeah. I think it's suitable for Central land.
Yuhan: Aside from ikebana, I think that "Chabana"(?) would also be good.
You: -Chabana...?
-( There are even tea flowers....)
Bastien: Chabana... That's the first time I heard about it.
Ammon: In short, tea flowers are the flowers that are displayed in the tea room.
Ammon: Rather than ikebana, it puts more emphasis on being natural. Seasonality of flowers is also the key.
Ammon: For example, fresh windflowers picked up in nature.
Hanamaru: Heh, as expected from Ammon. You know everything about flowers.
Ammon: Hehe. Well, not that I've done it myself. I just have this knowledge.
Ammon: But, I see. Chabana...
Ammon: In Grosvenor's garden flowers are grown in flower beds. Besides, there are windflowers...
Ammon: It might be interesting to try.
Ammon: That's why I need everyone to quickly pick up some flowers!
You: Eh, now?
Bastien: Looking for flowers..? I'm not sure which I should choose....
Ammon: That's okay. Even if the flower seems simple, that's its charm.
Bastien: I see. Then, Ammon-san will...?
Ammon: I'll arrange the vase.
Ammon: I'll prepare the vase that perfectly matches the atmosphere of Eastern land.
Ammon: I'll bring the catalog... I'd like to hear aruji-sama's opinion.
You: Mine?
Ammon: Of course. You're the guest at the party, after all.
Ammon: I don't think it'll be too difficult. Don't worry too much♪
You: Understood.
Bastien: I see.. I'll leave it to Ammon-san then.
Yuhan: Then, aruji-sama. Please, excuse me for a moment.
You: Mm, good luck.
The butlers bowed. They left me alone with Ammon as they left to pick up the windflowers.
Ammon: They're gone....
You: Let's choose the vase together.
Ammon: Oh-ho? What did you say, aruji-sama?
Ammon: What vase? I've already put one in another room next to ours. (This dude---)
You: Eh...?
Ammon: Hehe. Which flowers would decorate the venue have been decided in advance.
Ammon: We have arranged the perfect tableware... The only thing to do was to decorate it with flowers.
Ammon: Everyone decided to collect flowers by themselves.. I just went along with that♪
You: But, what for..?
Ammon: Hehe. That would be...
Ammon: I will spend some private time with aruji-sama♪
Ammon: Speaking of The Valentine's day... You need to spend time with your loved ones.
Ammon: And speaking of my loved ones, it's aruji-sama, of course.
Ammon: We have delicious wine here...
Ammon: With important to me person... Drinking wine, while being surrounded by beautiful flowers...
Ammon: Well, the flowers are still to be here. While aruji-sama is here, that's already enough.
Ammon: Hehe. What about aruji-sama?
Ammon: With your loved one... You don't want to loose romantic time, do you..?
You: Teasing me like that again...
Ammon: Teasing..? I'm being honest, aruji-sama.
Ammon: The words of feeling the importance of aruji-sama... There's not even a single lie.
Ammon: Thinking how to spend more alone time with aruji-sama... As a result, I alienated other butlers.
Ammon: Hey... What are the true intentions of aruji-sama..?
Ammon: For someone like me... Is it okay to tell my true feelings..?
You: A-Ammon..
I was fully aware that it was the part of his strategy, but... When I look in those serious eyes... I can't help but speak my true feelings.
Lato: Kufufu... That's it, Ammon-kun.
You: !?
Ammon: Oh? Isn't that Lato-san?
Ammon: And everyone else... Have you already finished picking the flowers up?
Hanamaru: No. Actually, we were interrupted by the guard.
Yuhan: He said that the flowers were needed to decorate the party venue...
Yuhan: "You can't pick these flowers! Go to a flower shop!" is what he said...
Yuhan: Jeez.. That's a real problem for those, who can't understand simple beauty.
Bastien: Since we had no other choice, we decided to come back.
Hanamaru: Hehe. Looks like we made the right decision.
Hanamaru: Had it been a bit later, Ammon would pick the most beautiful flower.
Ammon: No wa~y, Hanamaru-san. Don't say such bad things about me.
Ammon: I just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere of The Valentine's day. Surely, aruji-sama would understand that it's just for fun♪
Hanamaru: However, why is aruji-sama's face so red?
Lato: It's good that there are vases in other room.
You: U-Uhm...
Ammon: Alright, everyone! There's a little time left to prepare for the party.
Ammon: Let's all work hard to collect the most beautiful flowers♪
Hanamaru: Ah. Changing the topic.
Yuhan: Fufu. But Ammon-san is right.
Yuhan: Since we have time... Let's all work hard to make the best pre-party.
Bastien: Yeah.. That's right.
So I watched as Ammon and the others decorated the venue... I wonder whether Ammon was serious or not earlier...
***
"So that's how it is" I thought as I flipped through the wine catalog. Ammon was very hospitable at the pre-party... Now, it's my turn to repay him. I bought him wine from Rosetown... And for Ammon... I prepared his favorite cheese. Being happy with him... I wanted to express it in a gift.
Knock knock.
You: Come in.
Ammon: As I said, I came alone, aruji-sama~
Ammon: I heard that you wanted to do something...
Ammon: Hehe. Maybe it has to do something with The Valentine's day~?
You: I want to give this to you.
Ammon: Eh? This is...
Ammon: Wine..? And, could it be..
Ammon: Really... Could it be a Valentine's gift?
You: - That's right.
- Thank you, Ammon.
Ammon: Hehe. Thank you, aruji-sama.
Ammon: This is... Rosetown's wine, right?
You: Apparently it goes well with cheese.
Ammon: Really? You've adapted it to my taste!
You: If you'd like, you can drink now.
When I said that, Ammon sat at the table I had prepared in advance. He took the empty glass and some cheese.
Ammon: Hehe... I had never thought that I would spend The Valentine's day with aruji-sama...
Ammon: Of course, I'll drink some! Because everything is delicious when I'm with aruji-sama.
Ammon: So, excuse me...
As Ammon pour some wine into the glass, he fully enjoys the scent. As he takes one sip... He takes some time to enjoy the taste.
Ammon: ... It's delicious, aruji-sama.
Ammon: The moment you open the bottle, there's a faint fragrance...
Ammon: It felt like flowers had bloomed in my mouth.
Ammon: Aruji-sama's feelings... They feel like flowers with no thorns.
Ammon: Hehe. I can't believe you gave me such a wonderful present...
Ammon: Really... Aruji-sama likes me♪

As usual, Ammon says something that is hard for me to respond to... But today I was a little braver than usual.
You: I really do.

Ammon: Eh...
You: I want you to continue being by my side.

Ammon: Erm... Aruji-sama...
Ammon: That's... Could it be....
Ammon: The revenge for pre-party time?
You: Did your heart flutter...?
Ammon: Hehe. It pretty much did♪
Ammon: I've never expected it from aruji-sama...
Ammon: But... If you allow me to give you a piece of advice...
Ammon: Don't you think the main part was revealed a little bit too early?~
Ammon: If only you could make me more nervous... It'd be more interesting~
You: I'm nothing like Ammon...
Ammon: Hehe. Well, I'm a pro in this sphere.
Ammon: ( Although, if I was more nervous... I doubt that I'd be able to restrain myself...)
You: What's wrong?
Ammon: N-No... Nothing!

Ammon: Spending The Valentine's day with aruji-sama is the best... I had to clench my teeth.
Ammon: Well then. We have wine and cheese...
Ammon: Just a little bit longer... Is it okay if I spend some more time being happy? Aruji-sama...
You: Of course.
Although I said something like that to make Ammon's heart flutter, I had to gather all my courage up.... I had to back up... I was more nervous, than I thought I'd be. And now... I wonder if Ammon always harbors feelings like that. While I was thinking about it... I spent some time with Ammon on The Valentine's day.
THE END.
a/n: I really hope you don't mind my adapted translation because holy shit the translation of translator is something. also, please don't mind any grammatical errors, it's literally like midnight and I suck at grammar. hope y'all enjoyed seeing blushing ammon. (because i really did)

Special Halloween Party Event
Chapter 8: Fall Picnic
This is a rough translation of the story. You may encounter minor errors on the way, please be understanding and considerate (*´ω`*) With that being said, enjoy reading!
ITALICS - Narration; BOLD ITALIC - Dialogues

It was a certain afternoon. Although it was fall, today is blessed with warm weather. I found Bastien dozing off under the tree shade while I was out in the rear garden.
Bastien… is he in the middle of a nap now?
When I tried to quietly get close to him, I noticed that Mell, who was using a soft and fluffy cushion as her pillow, was also sleeping beside him.
Mell: Zzz… Zzz…
Bastien: Zzz… zzz… urr… mm…
It seems like Bastien fell asleep again while caressing Mell’s fluffy fur.
(This atmosphere feels so warm…)
Step… step… step…
Teddy: Huh? Aruji-sama? So you're here.
Hello.
Kuririn: Hello, “arujisama”!
Hello there.
Kuririn: Hm~? What were you looking at? Ah! Bastien-kun and Mell-chan are sleeping…!
(He softens his voice… So kind of him…)
Teddy: You're right. Maybe they're tired after the preparation for the ball.
Preparation?
Teddy: Yes. Of course all the other butlers are busy with it, but…Kuririn-kun and his friends are also helping to prepare for the event. Isn't it right, Kuririn-kun?
Kuririn: Yup! Yup! We also do our best!
Should I help with something too?
Kuririn: Arujisama wants to help too? Of course you can~! Right, Teddy-kun?
Teddy: Err, you see… We actually can't allow Aruji-sama to prepare too…
Teddy, please?
Teddy: Understood. Since I figured that Aruji-sama would ask for something like that. Shall we go to prepare as well after break then…?
After break…?
Teddy: Yes! It's our break time now to tell the truth. Also! We prepared treats with the help of Lono-kun!
Kuririn: Mell-chan’s favorite pancake… There are also my favorite sunflower seeds! There's also cookies! We didn't make it too sweet so it's easier for Bastien-kun to eat~♪ I'll give arujisama a sunflower seed too, they're my favorites~!
Fufu, thank you.
Teddy: Aruji-sama, would you like to have tea together too while we're at it?
Is it all right?
Teddy: We're the ones who question whether or not it's appropriate to sit together with you though…
I'm not against it.
Teddy: Thank you very much.
Kuririn: Now then. We should go and wake both of them. The pancake won't taste great when it turns cold at any rate. He~y, Mell-chan. Wake up~
Mell: Mm… Hm? Did Mell fall asleep? Ah, “arujisama” ♪ Good morning ♡
Good morning ♪
Teddy: Bastien-kun. Come on, wake up.
Bastien: Mm… Mmm… Teddy… san…? Huh… When did I…
Good morning, Bastien.

University of Cordonia, Capital
Liam’s POV:
“Sir, Lady Sophia has left you a message.” Bastien looked delighted as he held my phone up for me to grasp.
My head spun with a surge of conflicting emotions and energy. Fear and anticipation gripped my heart in an iron fist. Hope was winning out, but only barely. It was a good thing too; otherwise, I could've leapt for joy at those five seemingly innocent words. ‘...has left you a message.’ Bastien knew how desperately I needed to hear those words from him.
I tried to steady my racing heart.
I had to remember how to breathe.
It was impossible for me to think straight knowing Sophie was out there somewhere. It was agony trying to focus on anything else. She has always been brave and resourceful, but she is also no superhero. Anything could have happened to her. I do not want to imagine a world without her, especially if something had happened while I was unable to be by her side. I tried to keep positive and hope for the best, but I wasn't convinced I'd ever get her message. Still, I would have to have patience. I would have to have hope.
Everything in my heart and mind was screaming for Sophie. My soul was empty without her. It is amazing how a little text message, something that took seconds, could instantly bring the world back into focus. Suddenly, everything mattered again.
Her message was beautiful. Even without saying my name, I could see how much she loved me, and how she understood how worried I was. It was clear from her message that she was not upset with me for being gone. She understood my duties to Cordonia. With her simple but thoughtful message, she managed to soothe my aching soul and fill it with love and hope.
"...Don't worry about me. Just focus on what's needed right in front of you. I love you and look forward to seeing you soon."
A shaky laugh escaped my throat. A tear leaked from my eye as I continued staring at Sophie's beautiful message on my phone. My guards glanced at me and kept their distance, knowing me well enough to give me my privacy. Her words had the desired effect that settled me like nothing else would have. It gave me the focus I needed to deal with the mess left behind on the steps of the auditorium.
But I needed to feel her; to reassure myself of her safety.
Malic Motor Hotel/Emergency Safehouse
Liam, followed closely by Bastien and Drake, pushed the hotel doors open, the crisp ding of the door's bell brought all conversation to a halt. The employees and guests of the hotel suddenly stared, but quickly dropped to curtsy and/or bow in respect.
A brief time later, outside the Malic hotel, the sleek royal motorcade stopped at the entrance, under the vigilant gaze of Cordonian Police officers and local onlookers. When the SUV door was pushed open and Liam stepped out, everyone on the street was completely stunned. The paparazzi quickly moved forward in an attempt to capture the rare scene, but the Royal guard moved quickly to keep them at a distance, ensuring Liam's safety and privacy.
For the residents of the area, they know Liam is here for the tragedy, but most of them would never expect that a real royalty would come over at this hour to inquire about the injured. This shows just how concerned and generous the crown prince of Cordonia was for their welfare. It warmed their hearts to see him walking in the direction of the hotel, leaving behind a strong, imposing, and admiring aura.
After being escorted by the hotel concierge, Liam stood in front of the door for room 302. Bastien lifted his hand and rapped on the wooden frame. The hollow sound at once reverberated in the corridor, sounding just like his heart, beating like a drum now, Liam thought to himself.
The lock clicked open, and the handle was turned. Liam could not wait another moment. The moment the door opened, and he saw her, a moment of freezing, timelessness and perfect clarity overtook him. Sophie stood before him in the hotel room. Sophie, with her natural, soft beauty. She looked a bit tired and out of sorts, but she was whole, and in that instant, all was right in the world. His Sophie, alive and safe, stood before him.
In an instant, he knew what needed to be said. What she needed. All other things faded away, the guests in the hall, his security, Drake, Bastien; it was only the two of them.
He looked at her intensely; so profoundly, he could not breathe. With a soft smile, he simply said, "My Love..." and wrapped her tightly in his strong embrace. She could feel every inch of his toned body and feel the tremble of relief and suppressed tears of joy from his soul. His emotions were exposed for her alone, but still, he does not want her to see him cry. Her mind emptied itself of the chaos of the night before and was overwhelmed by the happiness and relief of reunion with Liam. She pressed her face into his firm chest and took a deep breath, letting the intoxicating masculine and his familiar cologne calm her even more. Nothing was said, nothing was needed. The unspoken words between them were loud and clear.
“Never again, Sophie. Never again, do I ever want to be away from you!” Liam’s breath rustled her hair, as he pulled back to gently cradle Sophie’s head in his hands. He brushed his thumbs over her cheeks to wipe the tears away that were now falling rapidly as she cried in relief.
He gently pulled away from her just a bit. Lifting her chin up slightly with his finger, he looked into her deep blue eyes and uttered the words his soul had longed to say, "I love you." The intensity in his eyes was palpable; the raw passion and the deep feeling of utter truthfulness clear.
"I love you too." Sophie’s eyes sparkled as the words softly rolled off her tongue, watching his lips. Liam ran his thumb gently over her bottom lip as his crystal blue eyes swept over hers; the corners of her eyes had a moment of wetness and sadness. The grief and terror of the previous night struck Sophie once again, and more tears slipped down from her eyes. Without hesitation, Liam reached out, and wiped her tears and held her in his strong arms until the quivering and shivers came to stop. His tender look, his warmth and breath comforted Sophie, immediately easing her burden and allowed her to have another moment of calm.
Gently, she finally extricated herself from his arms and the warmth of his body, to allow him into her room. Liam crossed the threshold, stepping forward in a fluid stride, followed closely by Bastien and Drake, never breaking contact with Sophie by lacing her fingers with his.
"Oh!" Sophie started a bit when she realized Hana was sitting on the sofa. "Liam, this is my roommate, Hana. Hana, you have not officially met Liam, this is-"
"...Just Liam. Hello Hana. It is a pleasure to meet you." Liam nodded and smiled.
"It is an honor to meet you, Liam." The words tumbled out of Hana’s mouth as the reality of the situation hit her. The atmosphere and awkward silence were broken swiftly by Drake.
"Hello, Hana." His voice sounded brusque, his brow a bit wrinkled as he sat in the chair furthest from everyone. His eyes traveled over her as he said, "you seem familiar ... but not."
"No! I'm definitely a newcomer." She smiled, a bit embarrassed, but friendly. She noticed that he had looked at her with more than casual interest. Sophie watched them with an air of bewilderment, unaware that Liam noticed the twinkle in his old friend's eye and made a mental note to ask Drake about it later.
"Taylor, it's fantastic that you found a friend. I'm glad you didn't have to spend last night by yourself."
"I just got lucky, Drake; I suppose. Hana was kind and generous enough to help me."
Sophie started telling the story of how Hana helped her and how she was instrumental in getting outside information about the attack with her cell phone. The next several minutes were dedicated to relaying all that had happened at the graduation. When she had finally finished, there was silence in the room. Sophie looked from one person to another.
"What? What is it? Tell me." Sophie asked apprehensively.
"I'm relieved," said Liam, finally, not knowing if she realized the extent of the attack. "It is all we can do at the moment. In the coming days and weeks, the details are going to start trickling in, and we will figure out who, the why and the what happened."
He crossed the floor to the hotel room window and drew the curtains aside. Sophie went over, leaning slightly toward him to catch a view of the sun peeking its way out of the clouds above. The sunlight shone down like a gentle kiss on their faces, reminding them there was hope, even on days such as these. Liam took her hand in his and interlaced their fingers, and for the second time, the only sound they could hear was the reassuring sound of their breathing and the soothing comfort of their touch.
Hana, Drake and Bastien quietly watched their interactions, keeping themselves on quiet standby. Hana was touched and astounded that the crown prince was not shy to openly express his affection for her. Bastien, as King Constantine’s personal guard, had seen Liam as a child and his entire adolescence. He was proud of the man he had become; a thoughtful leader with a profound compassion and loving nature. In the time he had been assigned his bodyguard, he had never seen him care so deeply about a lady as he did about Sophie.
After an extended moment, Liam gently caressed his thumb across her knuckles.
"I'm glad you are safe, my love. However, it is time we got back to work. We need to gather information, plan the next course of action and do our best to make sure something like this never happens again."
"Okay," Sophie replied calmly, feeling a small jolt of reality hitting her.
"But first,” Liam squeezed her hand, looking deep into her eyes. The reddened skin of her injury on her forehead as a reminder. "You need to have the royal doctor examine you. Let's get you some medical attention."
Street level, outside the Malic Hotel
As Sophie walked alongside Liam, her nerves began to settle slightly. She was not looking forward to being poked and prodded by strangers, but she knew, however, that Liam wanted to make sure she had not sustained any serious injuries. Having convinced her new friend to join her, Hana accepted the offer to get checked out as well.
Liam and his security team escorted Sophie and Hana to the waiting royal cars. Sophie had never been driven around like a real member of the royal family, but at the moment, she didn't really care. She was far too preoccupied. Liam was with her now, and that was all she cared about.
As the Royal motorcade drove off, Bastien tapped Drake on the shoulder and pointed him to a few police officers in the area. "There, --some of the Cordonian National Guard are among the officers investigating this attack. See if you can gather any intelligence from them and determine if Maxwell or anyone else needs urgent medical attention."
Drake gave a small smile and nodded, "on it." He went over and approached a tall police officer with his Cordonia-issued badge on display. He flashed a smile and clapped the officer's back. "Excuse me, buddy, I heard you were leading the investigation here. I'd like to get your help to search for my missing friend. His name is Maxwell Beaumont. I want to make sure he's alright."
"Yes," the police officer answered succinctly, a bit intimidated to be standing beside someone who seemed so close with the royal guards. Quickly tapping the name into the database, he answered, "room 419.”
The walk along the endless corridor that took Drake, and the officer seemed long. When the police officer wracked his knuckles a on the door. After a few moments, the police officer glanced at Drake. "This is it. Shall I call a paramedic to check on his condition?"
Drake did not hesitate and called out, "Maxwell? Open the door." No answer. Drake raised his voice, "Maxwell? Max, it's me." Still, no sound. Drake turned back to the officer, "Open it now." The officer produced a key card and slid it through the scanner. A series of sounds came from the scanner, then a beep, and the green light lit up and the door clicked, "it's unlocked now." Drake thanked him briefly, then took hold of the metal handle and pushed it open.
"Max?" He called out as soon as he walked in. There was no response. He did a thorough search of the suite but could not find Maxwell or Daniel anywhere.
The officer, waiting patiently in the hallway, "is your friend not in there, sir?" Drake did not have any more time or patience to exchange small talk. He stormed out the door in an intimidating manner as the officer said, "I'll check the CCTV right away. Let's go and I'll show you."
“No need!” Drake answered brusquely. Before that, Drake had snapped up a small sheet of paper that was left in the corner of the coffee table. Written clearly in his friend's familiar handwriting:
'"Danny, going for food. BRB" love, Max.'
***
When the cars arrived at the hospital, the security team ushered Liam and his entourage to a V.I.P. entrance at the back of the hospital. Hana was at once handed off to a couple of doctors, as Sophie watched her hand slip out of Liam's grasp as a man and woman pulled her away. As much as Sophie trusted them to do what was best for her, it was still upsetting to be taken away from Liam. After a few minutes, however, she became very focused on the details of the examination before her.
The doctor led her through some basic questions about how she was feeling. Once Sophie assured them that she had not suffered any lasting damage, the doctors set to checking her for any other concerns. While they ran an ultrasound, an EKG and an entire range of other tests that seemed far too extensive, the nurse called the doctor's attention to Sophie's back. The bruising from her altercation with Neville a few days ago was slowly fading but perked the attention of the nurse and doctor.
She turned to Sophie, who was sitting on top of the examination table. "Dear, this looks like..." she muttered, inspecting it closer.
"It's from a couple days ago. I got a little clobbered during a polo match."
The doctor made a noncommittal sound before glancing over at her colleague. They exchanged a knowing nod, and Sophie could tell that they did not believe her, but thankfully, they decided not to pursue it further.... until they did.
"How did this happen," the doctor finally asked.
Sophie did not give an immediate response; but knew she was not going to tell them that she was attacked. Especially not since she was certain it would probably get back to Liam.
"Just the result of a hard collision. Nothing out of the ordinary in polo," Sophie lied, knowing they must have noticed the bruising on her back and side.
"Does this hurt when I press on it?" the doctor asked, pressing a cold stethoscope on her back. Sophie cringed and had to bite down a yelp of pain as the stethoscope was pressed right onto a deep bruise. "Hm." The doctor made another noncommittal sound and gently prodded a little lower on her back, much to Sophie's distress.
"Oh, oh no ... that hurts," she whimpered. The doctors noted that one of her vertebrae was a bit tender and her muscles seemed pretty knotted up. Sophie could almost cry from the agony of the touch.
The doctors left the room and a moment later the nurse returned to escort Sophie into a private recovery room. After closing the door the nurse left her alone in the room. Sophie closed her eyes and breathed a deep sigh. Although she had not sustained any real physical damage from her experience at the university attack, the memory of the encounter with Neville and being apart from Liam drained her energy entirely. For the time being, she should rest and heal her wounded psyche. The wait ended suddenly, and the doctor poked her head in to explain she would talk to Liam, after all, and then a quick wink before disappearing again.
After the doctor left, Sophie closed her eyes for what seemed like only a minute but was likely much longer. She awoke to find Liam in the recovery room with her, holding her hand. He sat beside her and listened intently while she relayed every excruciating detail of what had happened after the polo match. As her story reached its dark crescendo, her emotions got the better of her, and tears threatened to fall. That is when he took her in his arms, and she rested her head on his chest.
It was just the two of them, and the outside world had faded away. Every inch of the worry and fear was exposed, and the next flood of relief swept over each of them with a deep sense of cathartic comfort. Liam caressed her arm, "thank you for sharing this with me, Sophie."
In his mind, Liam wondered why she did not tell him about Neville's attack earlier at the Beaumont estate. But instead of asking directly, he chose to guide her in a more gentle way.
Her statement is calm, reasonable and meant as an explanation, not an apology. Liam stared at her a moment, remembering the conversation.
"I was planning to ... but couldn’t find the right moment. That night, you were asking me to marry you and ... and then ... then that was the farthest thing from my mind.” She said bluntly, watching his reaction carefully.
Remembering the pure joy on her face in their special spot by the river, remembering how elated she had looked while her words saying "yes" rang through his heart.
He hung his head and let his hands rub along her arms and finally joined around her shoulders to pull her in.
"Yeah, you should have," she quipped. There was a hint of playfulness and teasing in her tone, trying to ease the heaviness in the room.
"I should have taken you to Italy with me," he whispered. His voice full of remorse and regret.
A smile curled around Sophie's lips.
Liam laughed heartily, shaking his head. “My cheeky little monkey.”
He wrapped his arms tighter around her as Sophie breathed him in, overwhelmed by the rich smell of his cologne. How it clung to his skin and radiated from his very essence.
"But seriously, Liam. I was able to fight him off and he fled.” Liam contemplated, stoically, how to react. He had the overwhelming urge to protect her. How could he not punish someone who had hurt her? Neville had it out for her ... to attack her in broad daylight and risk harming her in such an egregious manner? But then he paused, thinking about Sophie's perspective. She was a stranger in a foreign land, thinking that she had no recourse or rights. As far as she was concerned, no justice would come.
Sophie extended a hand toward Liam. Their eyes locked and he swallowed hard. His blood began to boil. His intense expression caused a look of concern on her face. The image of Neville attacking her was burned into his brain. A dozen things that he could have done to make sure this would not have happened flashed through his mind.
Liam placed a calming hand atop hers, saying, "That can't happen. You should know that you can come to me for anything. I am always available for you and there will always be a means of communication. Just for you. If you are in distress, please come to me right away. I can't promise what we would do at once, but I would ensure we investigate and take every necessary precaution to avoid it happening ever again. Especially not to the future queen of Cordonia. It is an insult to me and to the Crown."
His words lingered a moment in silence as he locked eyes with Sophie and held her chin up in his gentle touch. He was proud and thankful she told him everything and grateful for her strength to fight. At the same time, it deeply troubled and rattled him knowing how bad and in danger she had been. From someone in his court, nonetheless.
"In my mind, it makes sense, as the future queen of Cordonia ... You need to be protected from any sort of harm. So, I have decided to assign a personal bodyguard as well as putting you under the protection of the crown," he stated, sounding protective and determined.
Sophie didn't respond right away. Her first instinct was to reject the offer, but she paused and let his words sink in. "I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to have someone watching out for me. Someone who could be on my side who I could trust.r"
"Trust me, Sophie. Your new guard will be the best choice for you," smiling at her fondly. "With their expertise, they can ensure your safety at all times. And ... it wouldn't hurt for you to get to know them and learn from them too."
Liam wrapped her in his arms, hugging her tightly. "Especially if I can't be there to personally be your bodyguard." He winked and grinned suggestively.
She smiled at his teasing and hugged him back, "thank you for everything, Liam. Thank you for rescuing me, for your unwavering support and for believing in me."
He gave her a soft, lingering kiss on her forehead. "There is nothing to thank me for, it is the least I can do. Being able to have a true, loving partner by my side, in sickness and health, to love, honor and cherish above myself. It is my pleasure. I'm only trying to hold up my end of the bargain and you're the woman I want to have a future with ... only you."
Gazing lovingly at each other, Liam drew her toward him, as she nestled against his chest. His hand on her hair, twirling his fingers through a tendril, sending shivers through her. Their faces tilted to face each other again and he cupped her chin in his hand, his eyes flickering between her lips and her eyes, Sophie leaned in toward him and their lips met in the perfect balance between longing, passion and desire. It was just enough and yet not ... in perfect unison.
They did not pull away until the nurse had entered to announce that the Royal doctor was coming to discuss the test results, after which Sophie was all set to go home. Then they exchanged another glance of admiration. Liam tucked a wayward strand of hair behind her ear and caressed the side of her face, letting his fingers wander to her chin where he raised her gaze to meet his.
"I need you to always feel safe and remember, you will always come first to me, and there will never be anything, or anyone, more important," Liam placed a kiss on the inside of her wrist and rested a palm on her cheek, stroking her smooth skin with his thumb.
"I love you so much," she whispered, drawing his lips to hers for another brief kiss. She kept her eyes closed for a moment afterwards, resting in the blissfulness of their private moment together. Then her eyelashes fluttered open, and she was greeted by a pair of blue eyes as bright and brilliant as a winter sky. Liam's hand stroked her cheek softly, brushing away a tendril of hair that had gotten loose in the tumult of the day.
Sophie giggled as the nurse wheeled the EMG (electromyography) machine into her room, breaking their embrace. She frowned, unsure why Liam didn't seem like he'd heard the sound. As she turned, Liam mouthed the words again.
"I love you."
She smiled at him fondly, shaking her head. Everything felt like it was finally returning to normal and now it was just them, taking everything at their own pace.
She couldn't hear the nurse or the doctor's soft comments. It all seemed like white noise to her. It didn't even faze her when the doctor jokingly swatted Liam's hand from her own before they began hooking Sophie up to some more equipment for the nerve conduction study.
All Sophie could focus on was Liam. The fact that he was smiling down at her, the way his hand fell on hers as he absently squeezed and let go in a calming rhythm. Everything was all about him, his presence. Sophie could no longer imagine her life without him. Liam seemed to agree. Everything in his expression was pure bliss. The sight warmed her from within, a warmth that radiated in her core, even stronger than that of the adoration, or perhaps, something more.

[Story Translation] Chapter Two - The Glow of Despair [Episode Two: Part Five]
↫ previous story | story list | next story ↬
Seraphim:
“Haha ♪ Look how many there are."
Cherubim:
“Yes. These will be perfect for our experiments. We'll understand humans in no time."
Fennesz:
“This is bad... The soldiers..."
Lamli:
“They took everyone but us?!"
Berrien:
“No. Mr. Teddy and his Commanding Officer were spared."
Yuhan:
“Ugh... My eyes..."
Bastien:
“Oi, Yuhan! Are you okay?"
Yuhan:
“Mr. Bastien... Yes. I'm okay."
Yuhan:
“Where are my subordinates...?"
Yuhan:
“I-is that...?!"
Lucas:
“Miyaji!"
Miyaji:
“Yes, I got it. Follow me, Lucas."
As we all stood frozen in shock by the sudden turn of events...
...Miyaji and Lucas made their way over to attack the Intelligent Angels.
Miyaji:
“You're going to give back our soldiers."
slash
Seraphim:
“Oh my... How dangerous."
Lucas:
“We won't let you just do as you please."
slash...!
Cherubim:
“What a shame. You missed."
Lucas:
“He dodged it!"
flutter... flutter...
The Intelligent Angels spread their wings and took off into the sky.
The bird cage full of soldiers followed them as they flew higher and higher.
Flure:
“This is bad! They're going to get away...!"
Nac:
“Ammon! Flure! Aim for the Angels!"
Ammon:
“Got it!"
Flure:
“We won't let them get away..."
Cherubim:
“Hahaha..."
At that, Cherubim moved the bird cage in front of him and Seraphim.
Nac:
“They're using the soldiers as a shield!"
Nac:
“You two! Don't shoot!"
Ammon:
“Hiding behind humans... What cowards."
Cherubim:
“So it's true. The Devil Butlers won't attack humans."
Lono:
“They're getting away!"
Fennesz:
“They're too high... We can't reach them..."
Lato:
“I won't let them get away. My sword will reach them."
Flure:
“You can't, Lato! What if you hit a soldier...?!"
Seraphim:
“Haha. They're really panicking now."
Teddy:
“Wait! Let my people go!"
Seraphim:
“Hm? That's..."
Scouting Party Soldier:
“Officer Teddy! Run while you still can!"
Scouting Party Soldier:
“If you get any closer, you'll be trapped too..."
Teddy:
“I'm not going to abandon you...! I'll save you, I promise!"
Scouting Party Soldier:
“O-Officer Teddy...!"
Scouting Party Soldier:
“Please save us!"
Scouting Party Soldier:
“We don't want to die here!"
Seraphim:
“It looks like one of the humans is coming our way."
Seraphim:
“Wow... That's some real blood-lust. These humans must be really important."
Scouting Party Soldier:
“Officer Teddy...!!"
Seraphim:
“Everyone's getting so emotional."
Seraphim:
“Humans are so interesting. They have such a range of facial expressions."
Seraphim:
“Panic... Anger... Fear... I want to see more!"
Seraphim:
“For example... I want to see despair!"
Seraphim thrust his hand into the cage as he spoke.
It began to glow, brighter and brighter.
Scouting Party Soldier:
“I can't see..."
Teddy:
“Wh-... What are you doing?!"
Seraphim:
“You're soldiers, aren't you?"
Seraphim:
“I'm sure you already know what this light means."
Teddy:
“That's the light they use... to erase humans..."
Scouting Party Soldier:
“Aaaargh!!! Officer Teddy!! Help...!!"
Scouting Party Soldier:
“No...! I don't want to die...!!"
Teddy:
“Stop it..."
Teddy:
“Stop it now!"
Seraphim:
“Yes, yes. That's what I wanted to see."
A blinding light emanated from Seraphim's hand.
The terrified screams of the soldiers echoed around us.
Soon, they faded to nothing...
When the light disappeared, there was no trace of the soldiers in the cage.
Teddy:
“No... This isn't happening..."
Teddy:
“You're lying... You're lying!"
Teddy:
“Ugh... Uughh..."
Teddy:
"AAAAAAARGHHHH!"
Choices:
“No way..."
Berrien:
“How could they...?"
Seraphim:
“Hahaha! Very good! That's the expression I was looking for!"
Cherubim:
“Oi, Seraphim."
Cherubim:
“What did you do that for? We finally had hostages."
Cherubim:
“All the noble soldiers are gone now!"
Cherubim:
“Did you not listen to my plan?"
Seraphim:
“Sorry, I got a bit carried away."
Cherubim:
“You really are just too curious."
Cherubim:
“Oh well. It's my fault for not planning for if something like this happened."
Cherubim:
“But this is your last chance. Be careful."
Seraphim:
“I will, I will."
Seraphim:
“Oh, then how about this? Why don't we take that screaming one with us?"
Teddy:
“Ghh... Ugh... Uughh..."
Teddy:
“I'm supposed to be their deputy leader... But when it mattered... I didn't do a thing..."
Seraphim:
“He's one of the nobles' soldiers too, isn't he?"
Seraphim:
“Or we could take their leader? He's too scared to even stand."
Seraphim:
“Maybe we should take him captive?"
Cherubim:
“No, we can't. We still need them to do some work for us."
Cherubim:
“Humans care very much about structure. They'll take the words of a commanding officer seriously."
Cherubim:
“Their role is just about to begin."
Seraphim:
“Role? What do you mean?"
Cherubim:
“I'll explain later."
Cherubim:
“Now then... Devil Butlers and their Master."
Cherubim:
“We'll be taking our leave now..."
Seraphim:
“Oh, that's right. Haures."
Haures:
“What do you want...?!"
Seraphim:
“I ended up getting carried away and erasing the humans you brought, but... You played your part perfectly."
Seraphim:
“Let's talk about Tricia later."
Seraphim:
“Thank you for making such a wonderful deal with us."
Haures:
“Ugh...! Stop making up such ridiculous lies!"
Seraphim:
“Hahaha... Bye bye."
flap... flap...
And with that, the two Intelligent Angels disappeared into the darkness of the night.
They left behind only a heavy silence, which engulfed the Devil Butlers...
...And Teddy, who pounded the ground in frustration, tears streaming from his eyes.
Teddy:
“Shit...! Shit...!! Ugh..."
Choices:
“Mr. Teddy..."
We returned to town with nothing to show for our hardship.
While none of the Devil Butlers had been harmed...
We had failed to capture an Intelligent Angel...
And lost all the Sardeis soldiers but Yuhan...
And all the Grosvenor Scouts but Teddy and their commanding officer in the process.
- Devil's Palace -
With heavy hearts, we made our way back to the Devil's Palace and gathered in the dining room.
Lono:
“Master, here's some soup. Please, eat it."
Lono:
“You'll catch a cold if you don't warm yourself up."
Choices:
“Thank you, Lono."
Haures:
“..."
Fennesz:
“..."
The atmosphere in the room was heavy.
We'd lost a great deal of soldiers. The somberness made sense.
Suddenly, Lucas spoke.
Lucas:
“That was a total failure... And it's looking especially bad for us."
Berrien:
“Yes... I never would have imagined a second Intelligent Angel could exist."
Berrien:
“We lost all but three of the Sardeis Family Guard and the Scouting Party."
Berrien:
“Luckily our Master was fine. And none of us were lost..."
Lucas:
“Yes... But..."
Lucas:
“Is it really luck that we were the only ones who remained unharmed...?"
Muu:
“What do you mean by that?"
Lucas:
“I think you'll understand soon."
click
Nac:
“Excuse me."
Choices:
“Nac..."
Nac:
"Mr. Lucas... There's a message from the Grosvenor Family."
Nac:
"Mr. Haures, Mr. Lucas and Master..."
Nac:
"You're to attend a hearing at the Grosvenor Residence tomorrow..."
Lucas:
“Understood. Thank you, Nac."
Haures:
"..."
Fennesz:
“Haures..."
Choices:
“What's going to happen to us now...?"
The following day...
We made our way to the Grosvenor Residence.
